"Week Two": July 18-20, 2005
Before we start with
this recap we're going to discuss all of the ways to be
voted in the bottom three in a competition.
Sounding like garbage
Sounding just OK, and not doing anything to warrant
people voting for you.
Not being charismatic enough to get votes
Insulting Dave Navarro
Insulting INXS
Insulting the other contestants
Stepping on toes and being TOO competitive (JD)
All of these things have been done by at least one
person in the group. Which violation will be the
deadliest?
The show is starting up. We say hi to Brooke, hi to INXS
and hi to Dave Navarro, but we'll be saying good-bye to
one of the 13 people left.
We come over to last night's highlights and relive the
night that JD put his foot in his mouth. We also get to
see the rest of the competitors (sans JD) eating dinner.
The contestants, as could be expected, weren't thrilled
with JD's 'While everyone else is learning the INXS
songs, I know them all and I love them' comment. Mig
talks about how he can't eat and everyone else in the
room started trashing JD, who happens to came in as the
group descends on him like a hungry pack of wolves. JD,
on the other hand, says that he meant no ill will, BUT
he did mean what he said. People are just learning about
the song, and JD says that he knows all of them by
heart, and he wanted to explain to INXS how serious he
is to win this. You have to admire JD's passion, but
tit's not going to get him many votes to place himself
over everyone else.
Dave, however, sees it a different way. Dave is asked
about it, and he says that in defense of JD, that some
of them are trying to audition for A band, while JD is
trying to audition for THIS band. We go over to INXS,
who says that they only care about what goes on stage,
and not the backstage shenanigans. That being said, they
have praise for three performers - Suzie, Mig and... JD
(using his voice to fit the song).
Well, we hear who INXS is happy with. We'll now find out
who the audience is unhappy with. I will laugh if Suzie,
Mig and JD are the three. They aren't - Tara, Jessica
and Neal are. Well, they weren't wonderful last night
and even Dave said that none of the results surprised
him. Neal's guitar playing took away from his vocals,
Tara was once again flat, and Jessica was all over the
place, pitch-wise.
INXS wants Neal to improve his melody and attitude.
Hence his assignment is Suicide Blonde. The tone was
still all over the place and Neal better hope that one
of the women screws up worse than he did.
Tara is next up - and she continues to say 'yes' and
'absolutely' like a good yes-woman. Her song is
'Mystify' and she sounds very good singing it. It's
neither country nor rock and roll, and she blows Neal
out of the water.
It's Jessica's turn to sing. They want her to get into
rock, so she gets 'Don't Change'. It's 'alright', but
she's not sounding like she's singing this like someone
who is singing for their existence on a singing show
should be singing. She's all over the place like Neal,
and this could be a very close race between her and Neal
to go bye-bye.
Gary says that Tara sang well, but she could have used
the stage well. Neal used he used the stage well, but
his voice was rough. Jessica had an awful starts but she
improved greatly during the song. The person who is the
first to be safe? Tara (duh), as she gets to be safe.
The person who isn't safe - Neal. He's not right for
INXS and he's leaving. Ty and Tara, who both thought
that Jessica is going bye-bye, are both aghast in shock.
Neal thanks the band and he goes over to give them a
hug. Jessica looks stunned to still be in the running.
JD looks like he wants to hide behind a speaker. Join us
in 5 days to see if JD even makes it to next week's
Monday show without getting a group beatdown. |
