"Week Three": July 25-27, 2005
The question isn't who
should be in the bottom Three. The question should be -
could they expand it to five and can we eliminate more
than one person on each show?
Well, of course, we can't eliminate more than one
contestant on each show, because that would shrink the
schedule and ruin the ratings. With that, we start with
Dave, who says that after hearing Marty live, he turns a
180 and says that he was awesome. Marty gets the encore
- which is pretty easy to think about, as he was one of
the only ones that didn't blow chunks. We get the
encore, and everyone is happy. Yay.
But we still have 5 rotten singers to go through - and
three of them to be put on the chopping block. Brooke
asks who thinks that they are on the list of boobies.
Mig, JD, Daphna, Tara, Heather, Suzy and Jessica all
raise their hands. Well at least they are a smart group
- Jessica, Daphna and Heather are going up to sing to
survive.
Jon asked Daphna to sing 'What You Need' - and Mr.
Farriss has decided that he wants to play drums. Garry
decides to join her in the band, and the crowd goes
wild. Somehow, I don't think that this is going to
provide that ratings boost needed. Daphna hits the high
notes well, but she is struggling with the low notes and
it's painfully obvious that she can't hit the low
register. Why are they making the poor girl hit that?
Heather admits that she was off because she was sick,
and the band acknowledges this. Kirk asks her to sing
'By My Side'. She starts coldly, but she recovers and
has a valiant effort, despite having the sniffles.
Next up is Jessica, who has been lounging in the bottom
three for a while. She gets 'Elegantly Wasted', which
may not describe her shot of sticking around tonight.
She does recover and she sings it well, but you have to
wonder if someone who consistently falls in the bottom
three is going to last long.
We won't have to wait for long, as INXS returns with
their verdict. I think Jessica is going to stick around
- and I'm right as she gets to go back to the happy
place. I also think that Daphna is going to be toast,
and she is - but she is joined by Heather. Wha? INXS
says that neither Heather nor Daphna is right for the
band, and we get a double-elimination.
Well, that's interesting. I was sort of surprised about
that, but a little less so, as the ratings have taken a
powder. With the show creating less of a buzz and more
of a kill, I expect more double-eliminations to go on
the rise as we slowly watch the show act like the end of
a record and fade out. Join us on Monday to see who will
be closer to fading away. |
