"Week Two": July 18-20, 2005

Last week, 15 wannabe rockstars came to LA to see if one of them will have what it takes to lead off INXS. Dana and Will didn't have what it takes, as they were sent home. Now only 13 remain, as they celebrate their victory. Brandon thinks that Will didn't have enough edge. JD was shocked to be called for an encore, while Jordis still awaits hers. Tara thought it was a relief after the performances to go home.

And why the heck is Suzie crying all of the time? Was the week THAT hard?

Later, Marty discovers that there are 13 guitars awaiting from our good friends as Gibson *BUY*. Each one goes to each rocker. To that, they jam out on "Sweet Home Alabama." Meanwhile, Suzie is "Heading Back to Calgary". Even though she's from Toronto... Okay.

The next day, Dave is in the jam room with a feather boa. Why? To drive home a point: Image is everything. That's our next clinic, "Peacocking". "As long as you commit and sell your personal style, it'll work." With that, Dave reveals a veritable rock star boutique for our rockers to binge shop. To help, we have Tim and Ellie Mae, who has been stylist to many a rock star.

Ty is at home, while Suzie is wondering if what she's wearing isn't "too sexy." Tim tells her that she can never be too sexy, but she is wondering about spiraling downward into insecurity. Jordis... doesn't see the point, sticking with what got her this far. Tim has concerns about the Daniel Boone ensemble that Brandon chose.

MiG stumbles onto the 13 songs in the billiard room awaiting. Among them, "Walk This Way," "Hand in My Pocket", and one of my contemporary favorites, "Somebody Told Me." Daphna lets it be known that she wants "I Hate Myself for Loving You." Brandon wants "Sweet Home Alabama". Neal, thinking that he needs to be more melodic, takes "The One I Love"... or at least tries it out. Tara thinks that if she doesn't rock out, she's screwed. JD wants to encourage Tara to rock out when he knows that she can't, and this, my friends, is where the metagame comes into play. She wants "Paranoid." So does Deanna. But she also wants to step aside and let Tara take it. In the end, that's what happens. And it proves to be most difficult. "REM would be very upset with me."

In the studio, JD picks "Hand In My Pocket" (Alanis Morissette). Not formally trained, he has trouble getting his point across to the band. A sampling of the rest of the performances...

MiG: "Walk This Way" (Aerosmith/Run DMC)
Tara: "Paranoid" (Black Sabbath)
Deanna: "The One I Love" (REM)

After a night, Deanna still isn't feeling it. Will it cost her? 24 hours later, it's showtime...
