Denver Qualifier 2
July 22

Ninety athletes have proven themselves worthy to challenge the city finals stage of the competition. With one city left, 30 more will soar miles above the Mile High City, while the rest will just be... sore.

In this one city alone... 23 finishers have already guaranteed themselves a slot in the Denver Final.

DENVER
Civic Center Park

We begin with the standard six, four of which are making their ANW debut tonight.

- QUINTUPLE STEPS: five steps, seven feet between each one.
- ROLLING LOG: grab the log and hold on through three 360 degree revolutions.
- ROTATING BRIDGE: run across before it turns and tumbles.
- JUMP HANG KAI: the next level in the classic Jump Hang... This time, there are TWO cargo nets.
- GRIP HANG: traverse across three hanging planks.
- WARPED WALL: Fourteen feet, three tries.

As a reminder, it's win.... and in. Anyone who finishes the qualifier moves on to the regional final and move one step closer to the American Sasuke course in Las Vegas. If we have less than 30 complete, the remaining spots go to the fastest and the furthest.

First up...

- Christian Okruhlik (34; Topeka, KS; bartender) - FAIL Rotating Bridge
- Justin Eltringham (23; Live Oak, TX; USAF airman) - Nice save on the Rotating Bridge... on Jump Hang Kai... not so much. FAIL.
- John Dodson III (28; Albuquerque, NM; professional MMA fighter) - FAIL Grip Hang

No one has yet to figure out the Grip Hang...

- Nika Muckelroy (26; Houston; metallurgical engineer) - FAIL Warped Wall.

Now she has to hope that another seven warriors do not complete it. But right now... she is the FIRST woman to attempt the Warped Wall on American Ninja Warrior.

- Brian Arnold (35; Brighton, CO; mechanical engineer) - COMPLETE! (24)

That triggered an amazing run of success.... and five more follow suit. Joining Brian: Logan Dooley.

- San Sann (46; Houston, hairstylist) - COMPLETE! (30) And he's the oldest man to complete the qualifier! EVER!

Seven more athletes finish the course, bringing tonight's number to 14 alone! They include Connor Moyer (Nika's fiancee).

- Christopher Romrell (24; American Fork, UT; stuntman) - COMPLETE! (38)
- Shawne "Lights Out" Merriman (38; Washington, DC; former NFL all-pro linebacker) - FAIL Jump Hang Kai

Ten more runners later... six of them will advance, including Josh Cook. And that's before THESE three All-Stars take the course.

- Jake Smith (25; Boulder, CO; free runner) - COMPLETE! (39)
- Amos Rendao (30; Boulder, CO; parkour instructor) - COMPLETE! (40) ... faster than Jake by 0.73 seconds!
- Brandon Douglass (24; Boulder, CO; parkour instructor) - COMPLETE! ... and faster by 8.5 seconds! He is the King of Denver!

It was definitely an historic time at Denver...
