Sasuke Stage Part 1
December 19
Last time on "Ninja Warrior", the final
15 trained hard for one of 10 spots on the road to Mount Midoriyama. In
the end, those ten were filled with the fastest, strongest, and most
determined athletes that our country could ever field. Now the journey
to total victory continues... in Japan.
Here's how it's going to go down on the
Sasuke course. We are playing the lineup of the 23rd Sasuke Course.
STAGE 1: Finalists will only have two
minutes to complete the grueling course which will test all around
athletic ability. On this course:
- Twelve Timbers
- Curtain Slider
- Log Grip
- Jumping Spider
- Halfpipe Attack
- Warped Wall
- Slider Jump
- Final Climb
Anyone who survives will go to STAGE 2,
which will feature even more grueling obstacles... In STAGE 3, speed
gives way to stamina and upper body strength, as the most punishing of
all the tests are featured. The good news is that players have all the
time they want. If anyone passes that stage, we go to the FINAL STAGE, a
30 minute jaunt up the metallic monolith that looms over all of the
obstacles.
So the question now... Who has the
strength, speed, and stamina to withstand all of the stages and be
crowned the first ever American Ninja Warrior?
The challengers will run in order from
slowest to fastest. First up, #10 Rick Huelga, 37. He's running a smooth
course. He's having some trouble on the Jumping Spider here, but he
survives and lands the perfect dismount on the Halfpipe Attack. The
Warped Wall is proving to be a challenge... He makes it though, but now
time is his enemy. ... TIME UP!
Next up, #9 Joop Katana, 28. He doesn't
slow down on his approach. He's running a great course so far. Warped
Wall proving to be a challenge. He's got to finish the coruse, though,
because the klaxons are sounding and... TIME UP!
Stage 1 continues with #8 Geoff Iida.
Being half-Japanese, he's never got a chance like this, so he's taking
it all in. He has to reset himself on the Halfpipe Attack. That ends up
costing him valuable time as he too times out.
Going next is #7 Shane Daniels, 23. His
girlfriend and son are watching from home. They're hoping to watch a win
today. He BARELY clears the Curtain Slider. He also barely makes
the Jumping Spider. He's really going to have to hustle here. He climbs
up the Warped Wall with ease. He has 30 seconds after that. He looks
like he could possibly clear the first stage. He'd be the first... ...
TIME UP!
One by one, the Americans are being
denied. Will #6 Caine Sinclair be the one to turn the tide? Caine is
absolutely making the first part of stage one his biatch, but he's
sliding off of the Jumping Spider. This could be trouble. But he's
through. He makes it up the Warped Wall in one try. He also makes
mincemeat of the Slider Jump. How will he take the Final Climb? Rather
easily. He'd better hurry, though... NO! He was right there!
#5 is next, 29-year-old Rich King. He
says he's going to make it do what it do, but with five people behind
him, all of which timed out, will he get the Americans on the board? So
far, no problems. Jumping Spider... No problem. Halfpipe Attack... No
problem... Warped Wall... No problem. Slider Jump... No problem. Rich
could be the first to clear... He's got a full half-minute to take on
the final climb. The crowd is on its feet... And... FINISH! Finally!
Four players to go, and three stages.
Will one of them be the first to plant an American flag atop Mount
Midoriyama? As this special Sasuke continues, stay with us for... MORE
determined competitors.... MORE powered performances... and MORE
