Rice Rice Baby
July 15 |
Last week, an abbreviated round took on
Gordon Ramsay's greatest hits. Katrina survived a broken egg...and a
broken ego. Kerry wasn't so lucky. Now we're going into a new round with
11 people.
MYSTERY BOX
- Included in the box today... rice. And lots of it.
- 60 minutes to make one stunning dish for an incredible advantage.
The rice we are working with are white, brown, wild, long grain, bamboo,
jasmine, forbidden rice, and sushi rice. You'll also have a limited
pantry. ALSO... the winning dish will be featured in the September issue
of Family Circle Magazine.
Rice must be the focus of the plate.
It should be noted that Derek is the only one of the top 11 to win a
Mystery Box.
- HETAL: Khichdi with Peas, Cauliflower & Tomato.
- TOMMY: Jambalaya with Andouille Sausage, Chicken & Shrimp.
- CLAUDIA: Arroz con Leche Molotes with Custard & Orange Marmalade.
WINNER: TOMMY
So Tommy is going to the pages of Family Circle, and he's controlling
the fate of his competitors.
ELIMINATION TEST: Dynamic Duos
- Tommy must choose between peanut butter & jelly, ham & pineapple, and
tomato & basil.
- 45 minutes to prepare
Tommy chooses... PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY.
One more thing... Tommy can save two people from elimination... one
before the test, and one after. CLAUDIA... get upstairs, you're safe....
or not. She declines his save.
You can only go to the pantry once. Make the trip count. Shelly...
doesn't. She forgets the peanut butter AND the jelly. You forgot the
jelly, Shelly! So there's two stories at play.
After the cooking, Tommy saves... NICK.
- CLAUDIA: Peanut Crusted Pork Chop with Grape Jelly Brussels Sprouts
and Mashed Potatoes
- CHRISTOPHER: PB&J Tart with Toasted Peanuts
- SHELLY: PB&J Spring Roll with Sriracha Jelly Sauce. A backwards step.
- HETAL: PB&J Cookies Two Ways
- KATRINA: Satay & Spring Rolls with Peanut Sauce and Grape Jelly Sauce
- SARA: Strawberry Tart with Peanut Butter Pastry Cream. Gordon can't
taste peanut butter. And it's undercooked.
There were standouts... Hetal and Katrina will be captains in the next
challenge.
The Dynamic Duo of Crap... Sara and Shelly.
ELIMINATED: SARA.
Now only the top 10 remain. Who can turn out quality beef on a dude
ranch, and who'll have to make another tart? Stay tuned.
