The cooks were on a (cinnamon) roll last
week after a visit to the fun park. Darah ended up rolling out of the
competition. Tonight, if you want to win, you're going to have to come
out of your shells as we begin Round 2. ROUND 2 MYSTERY BOX: Crab - One hour to transform the ingredients in the box into a stunning dish. - Winner will get an advantage in the Elimination Test As a reminder, everyone has the same ingredients in their Mystery Box. Now you may have to be careful, because this particular ingredient is LIVE. Everyone is given.... a variety of crabs: Dungeness, blue, and rock crabs. The best crab dish after one hour will get a crucial advantage going into the Elimination Test. The top 3... - Amanda: Crab Cakes with Mango Salad & Avocado Cream Sauce - Olivia: Crab Cake Benedict with Poached Egg & Roasted Asparagus - Jesse: Crab Dumpling Soup with Avocado & Mango Salad For the record, Jesse has given his girlfriend crabs.... for dinner. WINNER: JESSE! Southern man don't need anything... His advantage is NOT in the pantry. It's in front of him... "Your choice. Who do you want to send right now out of those MasterChef doors?" Jesse wants to send Stephen out right now. If he uses this advantage wisely, that could happen. First advantage: he is through to the next round. Second... a very special ingredient, a gift from Mother Nature... ELIMINATION TEST: Another Mystery Box - One hour to transform this ingredient into a spectacular dish The mystery ingredient will be waiting for the cooks inside the pantry. Jesse's second advantage is that he will choose who makes what. If you are given a regular shopping basket, you will make a savory dish. If you are given a shopping basket with a pink bow around it, you will be making a sweet dish, which could be, as Gordon said, "Game over." SAVORY: Derrick, Dan, Shelly, Stephen, Charlie SWEET: Veronica, Tommy, Katrina, Olivia, Justin, Claudia Those are the baskets that are televised. There are still seven fates to be determined. The secret ingredient... CORN. A corn dessert is harder because you associate it with a savory dish. On the flip side, you could lose yourself in making corn the star. - Stephen: Corn Tamale with Avocado & Corn Salsa. "A good energy of corn." - Veronica: Corn Creme Brulee with Caramel Corn. Perfect crispy crackling on top... the inside is not... (commercial break for Empire... and the Samsung Galaxy... and the final Idol Audition Tour. The FoxNow app, free does not mean easy.).... well done at all. Too much fat & cooked too high. - Shelly: Shrimp Tacos with Corn Guacamole. Nailed it. - Claudia: Sweet Corn Tamale with Plantain Puree & Mexican Chocolate Sauce. Good acidity, but pretty dense. - Justin: Profiterole with Sweet Creamed Corn & Candy Corn Caramel. Undercooked. - Tommy: Corn Panna Cotta with Orange & Vanilla Bean. "Velvety." - Charlie: BBQ Shrimp & Yellow Corn Grits. "Your grits... give me the (BLEEPS!)" It rhymes with "grits", folks. Use your imagination. Calling it now, the bottom three: Veronica, Charlie, and Justin. But first, the winner... WINNERS: Shelly & Stephen. They will be captains next week. BOTTOM THREE: Veronica, Charlie, and Justin. Charlie... made a dish that he should've known inside and out... but someone else did far worse. He's safe. Jesse is shocked that Justin used canned corn. And he is absolutely right to be. ELIMINATED: JUSTIN. Next time, Vegas, baby. Whose gamble will pay off, and who'll lose their shirt?
