Semifinals: Goucher/Duke/GWU
February 9
Last week, fifteen of the best and
brightest of the hallowed halls and dorm rooms of academia descended
upon the hallowed halls and studios of Sony Pictures to pitch
intellectual combat, three at a time. Now the cream of the cram has
risen to the top, but there is still one more level to go. The winners
of this game and the two to follow will reach that level and compete for
$100,000, a spot in the quarter-million dollar Tournament of
Champions... and the title of Jeopardy! College Champion.
Second place is guaranteed $50,000, while third will get $25,000 in a
standard two-week event. Semifinalists are guaranteed at least $10,000.
As always, any and all winning accrued depends on how far up the ladder
a player goes.
These nine are going to be friends forever... but for the next week,
where the familiar mantra is "Win... or go home", it's all business.
Monica Thieu, still reeling from the
upset, is in the wings waiting for one of these three.

First, a little disclosure
from yours truly. I watched last night's ball game between UNC and Duke,
so some, let's say, feelings, are still left within me. That said, I
don't want Greer to win. I WANT HIM TO CRY.
Now that that's out of the
way... JEOPARDY! ROUND!

capital's Kon-Tiki Museum houses mementos of Thor Heyerdahl's voyages. "What is
Oslo?" Correct for $13,000!
Daily Double #2: $800 Festivals.
Greer has $8400. With three clues left on the board and Sarah at $24,600, he's
going to have to bet at least half of it in order to stand ANY of a chance. He's
betting $6000 on this: a Japanese lantern lighting ceremony is a part of this
2-week-long spring festival in Washington, DC. "What is the Cherry Blossom
Festival?" Correct for $14,400!

Greer do something incredibly dumb. Sarah won't though. More in a
moment.
- Greer wins if... he bets $11,401 and is correct, while everyone else
is wrong. But he MUST BE CORRECT.
- Sarah wins if... she bets $3001 and is correct.

I'm going to spare the
analysis because of the above disclaimer. Or at least I'll TRY to
analyze is as best as I can. Ahem...
Give Greer a pound for
making a bold move (and a smart one at that) in the final seconds of the
round (C-Note: Where does THAT sound familiar?), but Sarah beat the
boys. And she beat them BAD.
Will Connie Shi make the
finals a ladies-only affair? Find out tomorrow!
