Last week, fifteen of the best and brightest of the hallowed halls and dorm rooms of academia descended upon the hallowed halls and studios of Sony Pictures to pitch intellectual combat, three at a time. Now the cream of the cram has risen to the top, but there is still one more level to go. The winners of this game and the two to follow will reach that level and compete for $100,000, a spot in the quarter-million dollar Tournament of Champions... and the title of Jeopardy! College Champion.

Second place is guaranteed $50,000, while third will get $25,000 in a standard two-week event. Semifinalists are guaranteed at least $10,000. As always, any and all winning accrued depends on how far up the ladder a player goes.

These nine are going to be friends forever... but for the next week, where the familiar mantra is "Win... or go home", it's all business.

And now, game one of the semis...

Daily Double: $1000 College "M". Tyler has been giving Weston - a preliminary favorite - a run at it with $7400 to $5400. He fronts $2500 on this: founded in 1800, this liberal arts college has the Adirondacks to the west & the Green Mountains to the east. "What is Marlboro College?" No, it was Middlebury, dropping him to $4900.

At the end of Jeopardy!...

Double Jeopardy! round...

Daily Double #1: $800 Yay, Physics! Monica's been making a go at it with $6400. Leader Tyler has $9300. She bets $3000 on this from Jimmy... "The flying spaceman's twin rotors spin in opposite directions, keeping him from spinning out of control by canceling out the effects of this rotational force." "What is torque?" CORRECT for $9400!

Daily Double #2: $1600 the 21st Century. Tyler's in second with $12,500 to Weston's $13,800. He bets $1500 on this: named for this San Franciscan, the USA's first public high school for gay students opened in 2003. "Who is Harvey Milk?" Correct for $14,000!

Tyler makes a grave error at the end of the Double Jeopardy! round, but the game is still close...

After being behind most of the game and making it close in Double Jeopardy!, Monica made a gutsy move and it paid off. some people like to say that knowledge and strategy are big parts, but you can't discount luck for anything!

Now she waits to see who she will face in the next round.
