Oops, You Broke a
Headlight -
April 3
It's about to get interesting as Dancing With The
Starstakes our 10 couples to master the tango and the
jive. Shandi came close last week to being eliminated
when Paulina & Alec got out. The dance is now on!
Shandi & Brian will jive first to "Crocodile Rock" by
Elton John. Both did a few solos at the start before
both did arm moves, and maybe more. Now we get first
glance at our judges. Carrie Ann said she's more
impressed, Len said it was a great performance and
Bruno said she's a bouncing, battling babe. Here comes
the numbers:
CARRIE ANN: 7
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 7
Total Score: 21
Very Good start.
Next up is John & Edyta. It took one kick to survive
last week, but they'll kickstart it into high gear as
they tango. Edyta tossed her hat and took off her
jacket along with a circle kick, a back kick, a leg
hold & drag and a fall away move. How did that go?
Carrie Ann said it had a decent frame, Len said it got
quite into character and Bruno said it was a mafioso
tango. Let's shoot down the scoreboard:
CARRIE ANN: 7
LEN: 6
BRUNO: 7
Total Score: 20
2nd place, but 1 away from tying it up.
Looks like Clyde & Elena are up to play. Clyde's mom
came to visit for help and now we'll see if it pays
off as they jive to "Bad Moon Rising" by CCR. Both did
kicks and Elena took part off her dress off. She also
did a slide-through & reverse to end it. Now the
judges. Carrie Ann said he wants to see him bust out
another time, Len said it gone to a u-turn and Bruno
said it was a bit fuzzy & blurred around the edges.
Let's take the corner to scoreboard land.
CARRIE ANN: 16
LEN: 5
BRUNO: 5
Total Score: 16
Way down in the cellar.
Now up, Laila & Maks. With last week's mambo getting
an encore, let's see if a tango to "Goldfinger" by
Shirley Bassey could do it again. It was all tango
along with a head-to-head move by both. The judges
say.....Carrie Ann said it broke a rule, but she's
still fabulous, Len said it had a very busy time, and
Bruno said it started especially on hold. Hang on
while we get the numbers:
CARRIE ANN: 7
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 7
Total Score: 21
And they tie for 1st.
And up next is Apolo & Julianne. He learned
speedskating to her. How Nice. As they jive, both
re-enacted a scene from Pulp Fiction, and both did a
roping gesture and Julianne did a Spirograph move
before they flashed V signs at the end. Will it be
victory come finals time? Carrie Ann said it was a
little sloppy, Len said he dances what he doesn't do,
and Bruno said it was a ride in Disneyland. Strap in
and kick back to watch the numbers fly:
CARRIE ANN: 7
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 23
And they have the lead.
We're halfway through and Joey & Kym are up. They'll
now tango to Star Wars by Meco. Joey played around
with a light saber and put it away. Kym did some leg
work and both got some kicks. Joey even took his light
saber to dance. Now let's cue the lights on the
judges. Carrie Ann said it was well-rehearsed, Len
said it was good, and Bruno said he does a great
Obi-Wan. Here comes the numbers now:
CARRIE ANN: 8
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 24
And they take the top spot.
Now Ian & Cheryl are up, we skip the chippendales part
of the practice video to watch them Jive to
"Hard-Headed Woman" by Elvis Presley. Tan jumped off
at the start and did some gyrations himself before a
camera problem happened. oops! Now we go to the
judges. Carrie Ann said it was a 9 until the end, Len
said it was a bitter pill to swallow, and Bruno said
it turned into a hot rod. Here comes the leaderboard:
CARRIE ANN: 8
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 24
And it's a 2-way share for 1st.
Leeza & Tony are ready to tango now to "Jealousy."
Leeza did a kick, a leg hold, some back kicks by both
and a big dip by Leeza to end it. How did that go?
Carrie Ann said it brought it to the floor, Len said
it was an eyeball pleaser and Bruno said the Lady of
the night never hurts. Word. Looking at the scores....
CARRIE ANN: 8
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 8
It's a 3-way for 1st now.
It's time for Heather & Jonathan to jive to "Can I Get
A Witness" by Marvin Gaye. Both did twist & swim
gestures and Heather did a flip over. She also did
kicks and a back dip to end it. Now the judges say.
Carrie Ann said it blew her mind, Len said she has
great musicality and Bruno said it's taken off. BTW,
she wore sneakers instead of high-heels tonight. How
nice. Here's the numbers:
CARRIE ANN: 8
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 24
I can't believe it's now a 4-way tie for 1st.
Billy Ray & Karina are last up. They'll tango to "Rock
The Casbah" by The Clash. Billy Ray hung out at the
judges table and Karina did 2 kicks. She also did a
leg move, a push away and a slide-through by Billy
Ray. I have never seen this. Now the judges. Carrie
Ann said he's still the most improved, Len said he
looks as if he's trying to do it and Bruno said it's
like a bingo caller. Last call for numbers:
CARRIE ANN: 7
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 7
Total Score: 21
It's a 3-way tie for 3rd place.
Let's take a pit stop, but just for tonight. Here's
how it shaping up:
24 -- Joey & Kym, Ian & Cheryl, Leeza & Tony,
Heather & Jonathan
23 -- Apolo & Julianne
21 -- Shandi & Brian, Laila & Maks, Billy Ray & Karina
20 -- John & Edyta
16 -- Clyde & Elena
It's time to park this thing, but until 23 hours from
now, we'll rev up again with a results show so big,
well, it's big. Good night.
