The stage is set, the tempo is upbeat and everything's
on the table for all 11 couples as they tackle the
foxtrot and the cha-cha. So what do you say? Let's get
the season started!
Kicking off the 4th fabulous season is our dance pros
doing "Ballroom Blitz" with the girls in green dresses
and the guys in black. That'll be a warm-up, now let's
get to the dancing.
Up first, Ian & Cheryl. They're the first out the gate
doing a cha-cha to "Mony Mony" by Billy Idol.
Throughout the routine, it was shaking including spins
& a dip from the Cheryl we know 2 seasons ago. Now we
get first glance this season at the judges. Carrie Ann
said it was really good at the start, Len said Ian's a
really good partner and Bruno said it was the cherry
on the cake. Now the first look at the scores in a
split second...
CARRIE ANN-7
LEN-7
BRUNO-7
Total Score: 21
That's a good way to start.
Taking 2nd is Paulina & Alec ready to foxtrot to "Too
Darn Hot." Paulina goes down stairs with a heat
gesture and did a leg hang with a dip to end it later
on. Now let's cool down with the judges. Carrie Ann
said it had a little bit of awkwardness, Len said it
was too hard, and Bruno said it got class oozing from
every corner. And here are the numbers:
CARRIE ANN-6
LEN-6
BRUNO-7
Total Score: 19
It'll be 2nd place for them.
Now up in 3rd position is Billy & Karina doing a
cha-cha to "I Want My Mullet Back." Karina did a Latin
solo and Billy Ray broke out one solo of his own. Both
did a swerve move and spin hops before Karina did a
split nearing the end. Was it really their money's
worth on the judges? Carrie Ann said he needs to work
on the musicality, Len said it was more like a hoedown
and Bruno said it was like a crazy bear lost in the
woods. We found the numbers and here they are....
CARRIE ANN-5
LEN-4
BRUNO-4
Total Score: 13
And they end up in the basement.
Ready to dance now is Leeza & Tony fox-trotting to
"Strangers in The night" by Frank Sinatra. Leeza did a
leg lift and a quick one later on before both slow
dipped to the end. Now we go the judges. Carrie Ann
said it brought character to life, Len said it was
very good technically and Bruno said they've got to
relax. Now let's get the scoreboard in gear...
CARRIE ANN-5
LEN-5
BRUNO-5
Total Score: 15
Still not a good score, but it's good for 3rd.
Here's Joey & Kym right now doing a cha-cha to "You
Should be Dancing" by the Bee Gees. Joey did a swerve
move and broke it down solo. Kym did spins and both
did some arm pumping. Now we go to the judges. Carrie
Ann said the competition began right now, Lens aid it
was really good and Bruno said this is what it's all
about. And this is what the scores are about...
CARRIE ANN-8
LEN-8
BRUNO-8
Total Score: 24
And they take the lead!
Now we're ready for Laila & Max doing a foxtrot to
"How Sweet it Is" by Marvin Gaye. Laila slinks across
the floor and by the end she goes up to the band area
while Max's foot is on the stair. How did that go?
Carrie Ann said it was effortless and seamless, Len
said it floated like a butterfly, glided like a swan
and Bruno said it's oozing sex appeal. Now the
numbers:
CARRIE ANN-7
LEN-8
BRUNO-8
Total Score:23
And they snatch 2nd place.
Ready to go is John & Edyta doing a cha-cha to "Chain
of Fools" by Aretha Franklin. John did a guitar
gesture at the start, and did his own dance. Edyta did
a leg lift & dip to end it. Can this be a chain
reaction with the judges? Carrie Ann said it was
surprisingly good, Len said it was a good job and
Bruno said it was poles together and apart in 90
seconds. Now the numbers in 7 seconds or less....
CARRIE ANN-6
LEN-5
BRUNO-6
Total Score: 17
And they go in 5th place.
We're all set for Shandi & Brian doing a foxtrot to
"The Power of Love" by Huey Lewis & The News. Shandi
did a leg lift, and a quick one later, followed by a
spin & a dip to end it. Now the judges get our say.
Carrie Ann said the upper body was fantastic, Len said
it did come out & sell it, and Bruno said it was
Barbie & Ken live in the living room. Please. Let's
get with the numbers.
CARRIE ANN-6
LEN-6
BRUNO-7
Total Score: 19
And they tie for 5th place.
And up now is Clyde & Elena, and at 6'7, he's the
tallest competitor on our show today. They'll cha-cha
to "I was made to love her" by Stevie Wonder. Both did
a can opener move and Clyde came out with his
best...or worst moves. Did the judges see that? Carrie
Ann said he was dancing a little small, Len said it
was such a charming performance and Bruno said it's
such a charming world. Oh, I get it, he's good, let's
look at the scores....
CARRIE ANN-6
LEN-5
BRUNO-5
Total Score: 16
Not a bad score, but a little worse.
Heather & Johnathan are up , and may I remind you,
Heather is the first contestant with an artificial leg
and I mean that. Now they're ready to foxtrot to
"Cheek To Cheek." Can they do it? Let's see. It's now
working for Heather with a kick and a dip to end it. I
told you she was good. Now the judges. Carrie Ann said
watch the arms a bit more, Len said it was far more
right than wrong and Bruno said it got more guts than
Rambo. Now the numbers....
CARRIE ANN06
LEN-6
BRUNO-6
Total Score: 18
And they get 6th place.
Last up, Apolo & Julianne doing a cha-cha to "Let's
Hear it for the Boy" by Deniece Williams. Julianna
tugs Apolo's shirt lightly to start it off, and she
did a split followed by a spin & a dip to end it. How
did that go? Carrie Ann said the hip action was
amazing, Len said Apolo's posture wasn't great, and
Bruno said it was a joy to watch. Will it be a joy to
see the numbers one last time?
CARRIE ANN-7
LEN-7
BRUNO-7
Total Score: 21
and they tie for 3rd place.
All 11 danced and it's no more. Here's our scorecard:
24 - Joey & Kym
23 - Laila & Maks
21 - Ian & Cheryl, Apolo & Julianne
19 - Paulina & Alec, Shandi & Brian
18 - Heather & Jonathan
17 - John & Edyta
16 - Clyde & Elena
15 - Leeza & Tony

Next week will be the week they'll nail the mambo and
the quickstep, and to those couples scoring in the
teens, it'll be time to step up or for one, it's step
off, which I'm about to for now. We'll see you next
week and until then....goodnight everyone.
