Nationals
Round of 4: Magic Challenge
March 25
Last time on the dance
floor, four of the top five crews found love in this
club, while Saltare was left to take a flying leap home,
leaving those aforementioned four to take on the task of
... magic. But can they pull a few tricks out of their
hats in order to avoid elimination?
ILLUSION CHALLENGE
First up, we need to make a host
appear.... And here's Mario now!
First... results. Blueprint Cru and Hype
5-0. One is safe this week. The other is in the bottom two. Dancing
first tonight... HYPE 5-0! They'll be back next week, but Blueprint is
going to prepare for battle.
Now here's what happens tonight. A master
of illusion, Franz Ferrare, will teach the crews an illusion that must
be incorporated into a dance routine that boggles the mind. Today, Hype
5-0 will have to make something come to life. They couldn't do it
themselves, so they get Franz's help. "Morning After Dark" by Timbaland
is the song... the trick... making sticks dance.
What they say: Lil Mama thought it was
good, seeing a different side and element to the group. Omarion thinks
that they did well with the challenge, but the choreography never
changes. JC liked the smooth criminal moves with the poles, but there
wasn't a lot of choreography. They have to see a dance or else they're
missing out.
What we say: It took a lot of energy to
pull together an individual routine and a group number, but Omarion is
right. It's time to see something new.
Back to Poreotix and Jungle Boogie. One
will face off against Blueprint. That one... will not be... POREOTIX!
The electric crew is ready to shock the crowd...
with MIND BULLETS! That's telekinesis to you and me. Can they get their heads in
the game to "Right Hand High" by Kid Sister?
What they say: JC thought that they were
gentle with the prop. It wasn't their best choreography, but it wasn't
bad. It's time to kill it for the finals. Mama goes into the slo-mo,
saying it was "sexy" and "entertaining". Omarion said that it wasn't too
hard, but they came with energy.
What we say: Another solid pop and lock
routine... and the piece de resistance at the end... Bowling!
SUDDEN DEATH
As a reminder, the bottom two are
Blueprint Cru and Jungle Boogie. They will perform one
after another. The judges will pick one to move on. The other... is
going to go up in smoke. Both of these crews are battle tested, but only
one will survive tonight.
Blueprint is first. Last week, they were
in the bottom. This week... One is going sky high as the crew tries to
levitate somebody... and Nathalie has been elected. They float on to
"Funhouse" by Pink, in hopes that they don't fall out of the pack.
What they say: Omarion liked the
storytelling aspect. JC thought it started slow, and took too long to
develop. But to their defense, he doesn't know why the crew is in the
bottom this week. Excellent execution. Mama thought the performance was
taken to the next level.
What we say: Way to step it up. They had
a clean routine, and the illusion was very believable as they worked
around it.
Next up is Jungle Boogie. They'll have to
do what we call "phasing". That is passing your body through a solid
surface. They have a secret ingredient... the Hart twins, Anthony and
Antwan. Can they pass through to the next round? Here they are with a
solid surface and a solid track, "Da Da Da" by Lil' Wayne.
What they say: Omarion thought that the
opening was slow, but after the trick, the dancers came alive. JC liked
the solid performance of the illusion. JC really doesn't know what the
voters were thinking. Mamacita says that they brought the highest energy
to the routine.
What we say: Good use of the giant poker
chip. They've been together all through the second half of the
performance.
A lot of work in the bottom two, but for
one of them, it'll all be for naught. One of these crews has run out of
second chances. Taking the walk to the next episode is...
...
BLUEPRINT CRU! The only place Jungle
Boogie is walking to is back to the garage, and as they do... their
banner must fall.
Next week, it's semifinal time as the
crews give it all they can in a PAIR of routines. Which two crews will
lock down spots in the finals, and which one is walking it out? Only
your votes will determine the ultimate victor. One
title... Now THREE crews. The search for America's best dance crew
continues.
