Round of 8: Music Video Challenge Challenge
February 25
Last time, Swagger Crew ran out of swag
even before voting began, leaving eight to compete for your calls and
text as they prep for another showdown. This week, it's all about the M
in MTV, as they take on routines seen in your favorite music videos.
MUSIC VIDEO CHALLENGE
The eight crews have prepared routines,
but the bottom two will have to face off against each other in battle.
Two of the six crews that will return next week are... POREOTIX and
JUNGLE BOOGIE!
Now for the challenge. Each crew has
prepared a routine based on a video. Behind them, a special video screen
will play the video that they are to dance to, and they better be good,
because the judges are not the forgiving kind if they fail to match.
First up, the robots of Poreotix will
take on Rhianna's "Umbrella".
What they say: JC thought that the wave
before the dance was lightspeed, but the umbrella swing was off. Lil
Mama said they made it fun, but it could've been better. Omarion wanted
to see something different, hoping that they would bring it to life.
What we say: Keeping it simple this week
with a GREEN for "MATCH" and a RED for "NO MATCH". For Poreotix...
NO MATCH.
Next up, crankers Jungle Boogie will go
even dirtier than Dirty South... Try Dirty South American with Shakira's
"Give It Up to Me".
What they say: Lil Mama singles out Raqi for
being the star of the group. They "appreciate art" as they do the stepping and
cranking together. Omarion's surprised that Raqi stepped up her sexy game. JC
thought it was okay, but the choreography needed to be tightened up.
What we say: It helps that they have champion
steppers in their crew. MATCH.
Two more groups that avoided the axe this week...
They are... STATIC NOYZE and SALTARE!
First up, Static Noyze will try to make some
noise as they emulate "New in Town" by Little Boots. Shopping carts included.
Better have your pads on.
What they say: Omarion liked the flip, but he
wanted a little more creativity. JC thought that they worked the video the most
so far. Mama said that they took the challenge to the next level.
What we say: This is a close one, but...
MATCH.
Was jumproping in the cards for Saltare this
week? Unless they had a jumprope scene in "Shake It" by Metro Station, not
bloody likely, but it seems simplistic enough...
What they say: JC applauds them for pushing
through the "car crash", but he liked the front handspring in the video. Omarion
respects the timing. Mama saw them prevail.
What we say: Ended cleanly... didn't start that
way. NO MATCH.
Two more crews will have nothing to worry about
this week. Those two are... HEAVY IMPACT and... HYPE 5-0! First up, Heavy Impact
with "What You Got" by Colby O'Donis. Can they pop their way to the top of the
chart?
What they say: Omarion wanted to feel the pop,
and saw CJ hit it. Mama says they stepped it up. JC thought that the mood was
there, but he didn't love the popping section.
What we say: Big BOOOOOOOY!
MATCH.
Next up, Hype 5-0 will try to rep the islands
with the woman, the womyth, the wo-legend... Britney Spears. The song.. "3".
What they say: Mama says that Britney exudes
sexy... and the girls exuded sexy. She also liked the mirror effect. JC loves
the stage presence, but he thought that the dismounts were a little sloppy.
Omarion disagrees with JC.
What we say: ... I'll give it to them if only for
the girl-on-girl at the end. MATCH.
That means ROYAL FLUSH and BLUEPRINT CRU are now
in the crosshairs. One will rock the house next week, the other is headed TO the
house. First up into the battle dome is Royal Flush with Cascada's "Evacuate the
Dance Floor". Can these non-breakers break? If they want to stick around they
will.
Can BLUEPRINT CRU do any better with Omarion's "I
Get It In"? He's on the panel. No pressure. The crew will rely on their b-boy
Nick to lead them to the W.
What we say: Of the two in battle, BLUEPRINT was
the most proficient.
What they say.... ROYAL FLUSH's banner must fall
tonight.
That leaves seven to battle next week as the
competition moves into the moves of Lady GaGa. Who'll have us going for the
telephone, and whose poker face is about to break? One title... Now... SEVEN
crews. The search for America's best dance crew continues.
