Nationals
Round of 5: Usher Challenge
March 18
Last week, two crews...
Static Noyze and Heavy Impact... brought the noise, but
mailed in the funk. As a result, their banners hit the
ground, leaving five to take on a blazin' hip-hop R&B
legend in the making... but who'll have us saying
"Yeah!" and who's ready to sign their papers?
USHER CHALLENGE
First up, Jungle Boogie and Blueprint.
One will dance first. The other will be in the bottom two. The first
crew up tonight is...
... JUNGLE BOOGIE! They'll get a hit by
the hit maker and will have to design a routine from that hit. Will
Jungle Boogie do his hometown proud? They'll be making "Love in This
Club" with some hot glides. It's hard to pull off. Can they do it?
What they say: JC says that the knee
glide was sick. The foot glide... not so much. Omarion thought they
embodied Usher. Mama says that they were clean from beginning to end.
What we say: They definitely put it down
as the last crew from the South remaining. They got the glide down, but
at the same time, it was a little bland.
Three crews left. Two will move on to
next week. One's going to battle. First crew in the top 3..... POREOTIX!
Following them into safety... HYPE 5-0! Which means that Blueprint Cru
and Saltare will fight for their lives in battle...
But first, let's try to win JC again with
an Usher routine from Poreotix. They get "Yeah!" Their challenge...
bring the choreography... and then, true to the song, "take that and
rewind it back".
What they say: Mama says that they were
clever in their misdirection and "on point". JC says that this is a club
smash, and they took over the lyrics to the song. He's seeing a little
more dimension. Omarion sees a lot of potential, but he wants the group
to level their difficulty.
What we say: Love it... Own it...
Now for Hype 5-0. Can they hang ten with
"U Don't Have to Call" wearing heelies? They're known for choreography,
but they're going to need more than that if they want to master heel
wheels.
What they say: Omarion likes the song,
and likes what the crew did with it. Mama thought it was "swaggerific",
but certain parts of it were "stiff". Josh double backflipped and then
rolled into the next progression. JC was afraid that they got caught up
in the prop, citing Breaksk8 from season 1.
What we say: Taking Heelys to a new
dimension, rolling through another performance. It's a nice little blend
of choreography and stunt.
SUDDEN DEATH
As a reminder, the bottom two are
Blueprint Cru and Saltare. They will perform one
after another. The judges will pick one to move on. The other two... are
going to drop. Blueprint won the toss, so Nicolas aka B-Boy Hero and
company are going to get the handsection from "Hey Daddy (Daddy's
Home)". Vince is going to get his French Canadian freak-on with that.
Now to the jumpers of Saltare. Their
mission, should they choose to accept it, is to incorporate fight
choreography to "Caught Up". So dancing... fighting... and roping...
Last week, the combination wasn't there. They needs to come all out in
order to survive THIS week.
Both crews returned fire, but one is
about to get "burned". The judges choice... to move on... to the next
round... is...
...
...
BLUEPRINT! Saltare jumped all the way to
the final five, but unfortunately, that's about as high as they're going
to get, as their banner falls tonight.
Next week, we got tricks for days as the
final four use magic in an attempt to pull a spot in the final three out
of their hats. But one crew will disappear forever in battle. One
title... Now FOUR crews. The search for America's best dance crew
continues.
