Finals: Mehigan/Dantzler/Rothenberg - Part 2
November 13
Last week on Jeopardy!, 15 teenagers
began the pursuit of $75,000, bragging rights, and the coveted Jeopardy!
Teen Tournament trophy. From that group came nine semifinalists. Now the
three winners of their individual heats, Aidan Mehigan, Will Dantzler,
and Rachel Rothenberg, have come together to determine who amongst them
is the best and is guaranteed the money, the trophy, and the glory...
Players this week are guaranteed $10,000,
with a guarantee of $15,000 for third place and $25,000 for second.. All
money will be determined, as always, by how far the players go in the
tournament.
And now, the deciding game...

Daily Double: $600 Biblical Women. Found
in only the fourth clue of the round, Rachel has $600 to Will's $200.
She maxes out at $1000 on this: her name comes from the Hebrew word for
"life". "Who is Leah?" No, it's Eve, leaving her at -$400.

Daily Double #1: $2000 Literary
Terms. This is Aidan's big chance with $4200 to Will's $5600 and Rachel's $8800.
He bets the level on this: it's a figure of speech that is an intentional
exaggeration for effect, like "to wait an eternity." "What is hyperbole?"
Correct for $6200.
Video Daily Double #2: $1200 Expedition Week. Rachel
still leads it with $11,200 to Will's $8800 and
Aidan's $7800. She bets $2500 on this: "When Crocs
Ate Dinos" takes us to this period, named for chalk
cliffs, the dinosaurs' final period. "What is the
Cretaceous period?"

... because even if he were
to bet everything, he'd still be some $15,000 short of leader Rachel. So
he's mathematically eliminated.
As for the other two, if
Will were to bet everything AND be correct, he would have a total of
$61,200. That's the number Rachel has to keep in mind. All she needs to
do is surpass that. A correct response and a wager of $6901 will do just
that.

HE SAID "WE LOOK FORWARD TO A
WORLD FOUNDED UPON" FREEDOM OF SPEECH, OF WORSHIP, FROM WANT & FROM FEAR |

Correct response: who was Franklin
Delano Roosevelt?
Aidan's response: who is Reagan? WRONG. Wager:
$9400. Total: $0.
Will's response: who was Patrick Henry? WRONG. Wager: $12,000.
Total: $5600.
And it's all gravy from here...
Rachel's response: who was FDR? CORRECT. Wager doesn't matter...
