Part 8: Boot Camp
Day 4
August 21
It's no longer about winning just to be
safe. It's about finding a champion. It's a lesson that Brandon Douglass
has learned the hard way, watching his dream of total victory go up in
flames. Today, the intensity gets kicked up another notch, because at
the end of the day, TWO people will go home, rounding out your final 10.
Those 10 will compete on the Sasuke course for the $500,000 K-Swiss
endorsement deal and the title of American Ninja Warrior.
It's the final day of Boot Camp. Time to
leave it all out there and then some.
Today, there will be no Pressure
Challenge and no punishment. This time, you're purely focusing on the
Team Relay.
TEAM RELAY #4: Double Salmon Ladder/Unstable
Bridge/Balance Tank/Ultimate Cliffhanger
The FOUR obstacles to be tested on today
are...
- DOUBLE SALMON LADDER
- UNSTABLE BRIDGE
- BALANCE TANK
- WARPED WALL
Two minutes of penalty time will be
assessed for failure to complete the Double Salmon Ladder or the
Unstable Bridge. One minute will be assessed for failure to complete the
Balance Tank. Two minutes will be assessed for failure to complete the
Ultimate Cliffhanger. This time, you will only get one shot before
penalty time is assessed.
The team with the fastest total team time
will send all of their members to Japan. The losing teams will nominate two of their own to the Heavenly Ropes, where one will be
eliminated.
The Blues are short two, the Whites one.
Brent of the Tigers and Paul & Travis Furlanic for the Monkeys will pull
double duty.
This... is for Japan.

Kasemir, Travis Furlanic, and Jake Smith are going to Japan! The other
two will have to choose two teammates each to send to the Heavenly
Ropes.
HEAVENLY ROPES #4: #4 Drew Dreschel vs. #7
Travis Rosen vs. #10 Brian Orosco vs. #15 Alan Connealy
Very simple. In the final stage, you race
against the clock. Today, you race against each other. It's 50 feet
straight up. Make it to the
top, you live to fight another day. Lose... you're going home..
First, James McGrath, Ryan Stratis, David
Campbell, Brent Steffensen, and Young Flip Rodriguez get their colors
and their tickets to Japan. Travis, Alan, Drew, and Brian are going to
have to earn theirs.
You will compete head-to-head, but the
two fastest times will join Team America in Japan.
First up, Drew and Alan. At a crucial
point, one inch away from the final bell... Alan... DROPS OUT. He is
done.
Time for Brian and Travis to take to the
ropes. Both finish. But who finished fastest?
It is... Travis Rosen... and ... by a
hair... Drew Dreschel. Brian has been to Japan five times, but he will
not make a sixth trip THIS YEAR, a testament to how strong this Team
America really is.
The final roster is set for total
victory...
- DAVID CAMPBELL
- DREW DRESCHEL
- TRAVIS FURLANIC
- PAUL KASEMIR
- JAMES McGRATH
- DAVID "YOUNGFLIP" RODRIGUEZ
- TRAVIS ROSEN
- JAKE SMITH
- BRENT STEFFENSEN
- RYAN STRATIS
We have 10 noble men... All we need is
ONE to complete the course. Good luck in Japan, boys!
