Round of 11
July 18
Ben took a "Starr" turn when he turned a
disastrous Hollywood party at Gordon's restaurant into a winning
performance of a layer cake in the Pressure Test. Unfortunately, Esther
couldn't take the cake and is left with the bad taste of defeat in her
mouth. Now only 11 remain as a new round is set to begin.
MYSTERY BOX #4
There are TWO Mystery Boxes today... One
in front of each cook, and one in front of the judges. In the cook's
box... nothing but vegetables, bacon, spices, pasta, and butter. This is
not a repeat. In the large Mystery Box... the largest in MasterChef
history.... LIVE FOUR-POUND LOBSTERS! And you're going to have to grab
it yourselves.
Seventy-five minutes to make a beautiful
sumptuous lobster dish.... STARTING NOW!
Selection of the top three will be based
on presentation.
And Christian... is causing mayhem. His
dish is imploding, and he is begging for new ingredients. He has some
thanks to his competitors, and now he has five minutes to think of
something.
The top three...
- Derrick Prince: Butter Poached Lobster
with Potato Puree and Tomato Mango Salad (this is Derrick's first final
table)
- Alejandra Schraeder: Thai Style Grilled Lobster with Red Curry & Mango
Salsa (Alejandra's third final table)
- Jennifer Behm: Baked Lobster with Roasted Fennel and Mashed Potatoes
(Jennifer's second final table)
Christian thought he should've been in
the final three... But he cooks angry. You cook angry, you make angry
food. Sorry. And it looks like Christian's not even paying attention to
Jennifer's critique. And Joe calls him on it, saying that if he's going
to show no respect to his competitors, he's going to personally come
over there and throw him out of the kitchen. He's bald. He means
business.
And speaking of business.... Jennifer won
the last Mystery Box. Will she win again? The winner of these...
Mystery Boxes... JENNIFER! Two in a row! Her advantage...
Jennifer will control the main ingredients of food in...
ELIMINATION TEST #4: Aphrodisiacs
Notice the evil laughter in Jennifer's
voice. She will have to choose amongst...
- oysters...
- artichokes...
- truffles...
Jennifer's choice.... the most amazing...
$500 black perigold truffle. EACH.
And Jennifer gets another advantage...
she... doesn't have to cook today IF she doesn't want to. She could go
up to the gallery with a bottle of Moet and go crazy. OR... she could
stay and cook knowing that she may be eliminated if she loses. A phrase
we at GSNN love to throw around... SHE'S GOING FOR IT!
One hour... one romantic sensual...
sexy.... dish. TIME FOR SEXY TIME!
Plug the knife, Graham... for money.
Okay, let's see some dishes.
- Tracy Kontos: Truffle & Sweet Corn Soup
("light & ethereal... and supersexy")
- Christian Collins: Pan-Seared Filet with Truffle-Infused Custard
- Giuseppe Morisco: Spinach, Pancetta & Truffle Taglioini
- Adrien Nieto: Seared Filet Mignon on Truffle Mash (flavor-wise, it is
"disappointing" and a "categorical abomination")... He must like it
rough.
- Erryn Cobb: Truffle Steak and Truffle Vegetable. Nothing about that
dish worked.
- Alejandra Schraeder: Veal Cutlets with Truffle, Leek & Marsala Sauce
(slimy)
- Jennifer Behm: Coddled Eggs & Truffles (under-coddled)
The top two today.... TRACY and GIUSEPPE.
They will be captains tomorrow.
In the bottom three... ERRYN, ADRIEN, and
... JENNIFER! Should've taken the out.
JENNIFER... is saved by a worse dish. ...
... and that dish belonged.. by his own
admission.... to ERRYN.
That leaves ten on station for tomorrow's
Field Team Challenge... and it promises to be the mother of all
challenges.
