Finals: Peterson/Neblett/Federman - Part 2 -
July 27
While many kids are either getting ready to head
back to the classroom or off enjoying their summer vacation, fifteen of the best
in the nation are off to sunny California for one reason... to be the last
person standing in the second Teen Tournament this season.
The fifteen were whittled to nine... Now only
three remain. At stake... $75,000 and the title of Jeopardy! Teen Tournament
Summer Games champion.
Here are the scores going to the final match...

Daily Double: $800 Student & Teacher. Kyle finds
it with $600, tied with Greg. He bets $1000 on this: Mozart & Haydn each taught
this composer, briefly; maybe he just wouldn't listen. "Who is Bach?" Correct
response: Who is Beethoven?, leaving him at -$400.
At the end of the Jeopardy! round...

Daily Double #1: $1200 What a 19th Century Year!.
Meryl is still in the lead with $13,400 to Greg's $4200. Kyle has $1600. Her
brain hurts with the two days, but she overcomes it with a bet of $3000 on this:
Lincoln's brief speech dedicating the battlefield at Gettsysburg as a cemetery
was in November of this year. "What is 1863?" Correct for $16,400!
Daily Double #2: $2000 South American Countries.
So far, it's been Meryl's night with $16,000 against Greg's $4600 and Kyle's
$1600. Greg make it a true Daily Double on this: it's the South American country
whose capital city lies the closest to 0 degrees latitude. "What is Ecuador?"
That... would've been right. Instead, Peru drops him back to zero.
At the end of the Double Jeopardy! Round...

Greg |
Kyle |
Meryl |
Now comes the decision for all three players...
Greg wins if... He bets everything and is correct
AND Meryl doesn't bet more than $5401.
Kyle wins if... Greg and Meryl bet big, while he
bets big AND is correct...
Meryl wins if... she bets more than $16,600. But
you know what they say... When you ain't got nothin', you ain't got nothin' to
lose. Bet the $16,601.
