Preliminaries: Henderson/Maranges/Varallo -
July 19
While many kids are either getting ready to head
back to the classroom or off enjoying their summer vacation, fifteen of the best
in the nation are off to sunny California for one reason... to be the last
person standing in the second Teen Tournament this season.
Another standard two-week affair awaits as the
first runner-up receives $25,000 at least, while the second runner-up wins at
least $15,000.
Semifinalists are guaranteed at least $5000,
while quarterfinalists are guaranteed $2500 for participation. As always, any
and all winning accrued depends on how far up the ladder a player goes.
So far, Andy Hutchins, Aiden Pink, and Kriti
Gandhi have their tickets punched for the semis. We know who definitely won't be
joining them, and by the end of this match, we know who definitely will.

Daily Double: $1000 The Shape of Things. Seems
like everyone was going everywhere looking for it, but Tommy with a $200 lead
over Kristiana finds it. He's got $2800 to her $2600, while Kyle has $1400. And
Tommy is betting the whole shoot'n'match on this: it's another term for a
spiral, especially when talking about spiraled strands of DNA. "What is a
heliacase?" Nope, it's a double helix, or a helix. Tommy goes back to zero.

Daily Double #2: $800 Possible SAT Vocabulary.
Tommy gets back to $2600 against Kristiana's $400 and Kyle's $14,800. He bets it
all again. The clue: the body of songs a chanteuse is prepared to sing or of
plays a company is prepared to put on. "What

Correct response: what is West Virginia?
Kristiana's response: what is West Virginia? RIGHT. Wager: $399. Total: $799.
Tommy's response: what is West Virginia? RIGHT. Wager: $400.
Total: $800.
Kyle's response: what is West Virginia? RIGHT. Wager doesn't
matter.
SEMI-FINALIST:
Kyle Neblett
Mr. A says: Kyle ascended to the championship when
the other two simply fell apart, Kristiana gradually
and Tommy on account of two Daily Doubles. But he
won't be afforded that luxury in the semis, so he
better beef up.
We can now also note
that Greg and Meryl from Monday's show will join our
four champions next week, leaving Amy V from
yesterday and Ben from Tuesday on the bubble.
