Finals:
Kashyap/Silverman/Hosford - Part 2
November
21
And then, there were three.
Over the last two weeks, fifteen of the
best and brightest teenagers who took and passed the Test online were
whittled two by two in the Jeopardy! Teen Tournament. Now where they
once stood, only the top three, juniors Audrey Hosford & Bradley
Silverman and senior Anurag Kashyap, remain. Yesterday was the beginning
of their two-part journey, and this is how they fared.

$35,000 |
$26,600 |
$15,200 |
Audrey has assured herself of AT LEAST
$15,200 for third place, as has Bradley of AT LEAST $26,600 for second.
Anurag, on the other hand, is in prime position to take it all, but in
this second half of competition, anything can happen.
This is a standard two-day final with the
final point totals at the end of Final Jeopardy! combined to make one
grand total. Each player must take that into account as they fight it
out for the title.
Day 2's Jeopardy! board is...
|
LETTERS TO
CONGRESSPEOPLE? |
WHEN THEY WERE TEENS |
THE NET WORKS |
FOOD FOR THOUGHT |
BODIES OF WATER |
GOOD APPLICATION ESSAY WORDS |
Daily Double: $1000 The Net Works.
Anurag finds it with $5600 to Audrey's $4000. Bradley has $600 in the wrong
direction. Anurag only bets $900 on this: this search site was named by its
creators from a dictionary definition: "rude, unsophisticated, uncouth". "What
is Yahoo!?" Correct for $6500!
At the end of the Jeopardy! round...

$8,900 |

Double Jeopardy! categories:
 |
RECENT MOVIES |
POETS & POETRY |
SOUNDS LIKE FUN |
US BUILDING |
TEEN-LETTER WORDS |
Note on category #6: responses will
contain anywhere form 13 to 19 letters.
Daily Double #1: $800 Poets &
Poetry. Anurag has $9300 and is the only one to make a move in the forward
direction so far. He bets $1700 on this: Shelley wrote, "Chameleons feed on
light and air; poets' food is" this emotion "and fame". "What is happiness?"
Nope, love. He drops to $7600, still leading.
Daily Double #2: $1600 US Buildings.
Anurag is beating up on his opponents with $13,600 to Bradley's $2200. Audrey
STILL has $3600. Anurag bets $1900 on this: the Johnson Wax headquarters,
designed by this late American, is on the National Register of Historic Places.
"Who is Frank Lloyd Wright?" Correct for $15,500!
After the Double Jeopardy! round...
|
$24,300 |
$9,000 |
$6,000 |
|
Anurag |
Bradley |
Audrey |
The math tells us that
Audrey is more or less playing for pride. So it's a two-man race between
Bradley and Anurag, and the magic number is $9601. That's how much
Anurag needs in front of his podium to ensure him of a win today.
Final Jeopardy! category:

Bradley's response: what is thunder? RIGHT. Wager: everything. Total:
$18,000.
Anurag's response: what is the sound of thunder? RIGHT. Wager: $0. Total:
