Finals: Kashyap/Silverman/Hosford - Part 1
November
20

And then, there were three.

Over the last two weeks, fifteen of the best and brightest teenagers who took and passed the Test online were whittled two by two in the Jeopardy! Teen Tournament. Now where they once stood, only the top three, juniors Audrey Hosford & Bradley Silverman and senior Anurag Kashyap, remain. In 48 hours, one of them will be $75,000 richer.

Second place is guaranteed $25,000, while third is guaranteed $15,000.

This is a standard two-day final with the final point totals at the end of Final Jeopardy! combined to make one grand total. Each player must take that into account as they fight it out for the title.

And day one... starts with this board...

TIME TO HIT THE BOOKS CELEBRITY SCENTS GOOD WORKS TAKE THE LEAD ANTARCTICA HEY "U"!

The $800 clue in the first category is delivered by Harry Shearer as Mr. Burns.

Daily Double: $600 Good Works. Bradley at $3400 cannot catch Anurag's $7800, but a wrong answer and a wrong move could put Audrey's $1800 into second. He wagers $2000 on this: the ACLU helps protect these, the "CL" in its name. "What are civil liberties?" Correct for $5400!

At the end of the Jeopardy! round...

$10,800 $5,400 $2,400
Anurag Bradley Audrey

Double Jeopardy! categories:

OMG! FAR-OUT CINEMA TIME FLIES REVOLUTIONARIES SUPERBAD WHEEL OF JEOPARDY!

Daily Double #1: $1600 Revolutionaries. Anurag is in the catbird seat with $16,000 to Bradley's $8600 and Audrey's $2400. He bets $2000 on this: on March 23, 1775 this famed orator told the Virginia Convention, "The war is inevitable and let it come!" "Who is... Henry?" Patrick Henry is right for $18,000!

Daily Double #2: $800 Time Flies. Bradley can catch Anurag with $11,000... or he can catch Audrey the other way with $2400. He goes for $4000 on this: a child born in 1995 turns 15 in 2010; a child born in 5 BC turned 15 in this year. "What is 11?" CORRECT for $15,000. Remember, there is no year 0.

After the Double Jeopardy! round...

$30,800 $16,600 $7,600
Anurag Bradley Audrey

Anurag need only bet so little. Audrey... needs to bet it all to stand a chance.

Final Jeopardy! category: STATE CAPITALS

BATON ROUGE & THIS OTHER STATE CAPITAL BOTH HAVE 2-WORD FRENCH NAMES; NEITHER IS NAMED FOR A PERSON

Correct response: what is Des Moines?

Audrey's response: what is Des Moines? RIGHT. Wager: $7600. Total: $15,200.
Btradley's response: what is Des Moines? RIGHT. Wager: $10,000. Total: $26,600.
Anurag's response: what is Des Moines? RIGHT. Wager: $4200. Total: $35,000.

And here's where we stand...

$35,000 $26,600 $15,200

Even with the scores as they are, Audrey has to play like she means it. Otherwise, she's taking home at least $15,200. But nothing is a given YET, only that Anurag has a heck of an advantage. If he comes to play, this tournament may end sooner than the 30 minutes allotted for this show.

But as past tournaments have proven, nothing is certain.

The deciding game... tomorrow.
