We started with 15 players from all
across the nation, playing for glory and a shot at $100,000 in the
Jeopardy! College Championship. At the end of this week, one player will
reign over them all with the cash, the title, and the seat at the next
Tournament of Champions. But no more second chances for the final nine.
It's win or go home.
What challenges await the brightest
collegians in the country? How will they rise to meet them? The answers
to these questions could be worth $100,000 for the winner, $50,000 for
the first runner-up, and $25,000 for the second runner-up. Semifinalists
are guaranteed $10,000. Any and
all prizes depend on how far up a player moves in the standings.

over Tucker ($1600). She fronts $600 again on this: this third book of the Old
Testament is named for the tribe from which the priests of Israel were
descended. "What is Deuteronomy?" No, it was Leviticus, leaving her with $1800
in a tie with Laurie.

Daily Double #1: $1600
International Cinema Showcase. Laurie is back in the
lead with $4400 to Whitney's $4200 and Tucker's
$3600. She fronts $1600 on this: "City of God" is
about 2 boys growing up in a violent favela in this
South American country. "What is Chile?" No, it was
Brazil, leaving her with $2800.
Daily Double #2: $2000 Kiwi Fauna.
Tucker finishes out the category with $10,400, $1200 on his nearest opponent
Laurie. Whitney still has $8600. He bets the $1200 on this: found in New
Zealand's waters, the blue bottle jellyfish is also known as this due to its
resemblance to a battleship. "What is a man-o-war?" The Portuguese man-o-war is
right for $11,600.

As close as it is, wagering is going
to be a factor. Let's look at the Book courtesy of J-Archive.com...
- LAURIE WINS IF... she bets between
$201 and $7600 and the other two are incorrect and wager against each other.
- WHITNEY WINS IF... she wagers everything and is correct while Tucker is not
(normally a Stratton's Dilemma question, but since only the winner moves on...)
- TUCKER WINS IF... he wagers $9201 and is correct.

Whitney's response: who is Webst Roget? WRONG. Wager
doesn't matter.
Tucker's response: who is Webster? CORRECT.
Wager: $9201. Total: $21,201.
FINALIST: Tucker Pope
Props to all
three players for keeping it close, but in the end,
Tucker knew what he had to do and did it. That will keep
him competitive going into the final phase.
Meanwhile,
we face three more semifinalists next time.
