Preliminaries: Ohio St./Middlebury/Ball St.
February 14

It's that time of the year again, when many a college senior is ready to take on the world. Today, and every day for the next two weeks, 15 college students are going to take each other on for $100,000 and a possible $250,000 seat in the next Tournament of Champions in Jeopardy's Winter Classic, the College Championship.

What challenges await the brightest collegians in the country? How will they rise to meet them? The answers to these questions could be worth $100,000 for the winner, $50,000 for the first runner-up, and $25,000 for the second runner-up. Semifinalists are guaranteed $10,000, while everyone who competes gets $5000. Any and all prizes depend on how far up a player moves in the standings.

We're down to the last semi, which means that in 30 minutes, we'll have your final nine.

Daily Double #1: $800 Languages. Alex finds it early in the round with $5000. In fact, it's the only change in scoring since the half. He fronts $1200 on this: this language with a unique syllabary is now spoken by more than 10,000 Native Americans in North Carolina & Oklahoma. "What is Cherokee?" That would've given him the money, but Navajo drops him to $3800.

Daily Double #2: $1600 Where Were You & When? Erika has $5200, more than 50 percent of Maria's total. She bets $1000 on this: this German military man, September 17, 1916: high above Cambrai, France. "Who is the Red Baron?" RIGHT for $6200!
