Four Chefs Compete
Again
August 3
Last time, Jay had a
narrow victory over Holli, but both ended up winners. At
service, Ben had communication issues, Holli had fish mishaps,
Autumn was in too deep, while Jay was on point. That ended in
their best service ever, giving the four chefs a pass to
tonight. But now Chef Ramsay is going to turn it up ANOTHER
notch.
The next day brings
back a Hell's Kitchen classic, but first... the chefs must be
presentable according to sous-chef Andi. For Jay, that means...
jeans.
Now to the
challenge. Chef Ramsay has prepared dishes from the menu at the
Savoy Grill, which is currently being renovated. Hope you
enjoyed that, because today... it's "TASTE IT, NOW MAKE IT" day!
45 minutes! GO!
Ben: Venison, Apple
Puree, Pancetta
Holli: Venison, Apple Puree, Pancetta
Autumn: Venison, Apple Puree, Bacon
Jay: Flank Steak, Pear Puree, Pancetta
CORRECT: Venison,
Pear, and.... Pancetta. Ben and Holli get a second taste...
Winner... HOLLI! She'll be spending the day on a yacht with her
family... and JP, while the others are cleaning the dorms.
And yes, Ben is a
little bit bitter. Jay, though, is glad to at least have lost to
Holli. If he lost to Autumn... that would've been devastating.
And the name of the
boat, by the way? "Raising Hell". Nice.
Back in Hell's
Kitchen, Autumn talks about seemingly everything and nothing.
And seeing Holli come back gets Ben's fire going. And not in the
good way.
A new day begins
with Ben having to nurse his back from yesterday's punishment.
Remember to lift with your legs, not with your back. The other
three chefs go to prep while Ben goes to .... sleep. And then to
the hot tub. They're not helping. He goes to the medic and a
chiropractor about it (and the shortness of breath), while the
rest of the brigade takes a little break. If Ben will just
relax, not give up, he'll get better.
... but it's not a
chance he's willing to take. He's done. He's going to Chef
Ramsay about it. But Ramsay knows how good Ben really is, and
tells him to think long and hard before he makes a final
decision.
His decision....
Let's cook.
Tonight at service,
every chef will take a turn at the hot plate. So show us what
you've got. OPEN HELL'S KITCHEN!
DINNER SERVICE
Another fully-booked service starts
with... Jay on the pass. Scott will cover as needed. He did rather well,
but the first test is coming as Scott subs out lobster in his crab
capellini. Scott has another sabotaged dish... again, with crab instead
of lobster. PERFECT at the pass.
Forty-five minutes, and apps are out.
Next up on the hot plate.. Holli. And she's... freezing. She recovers,
but here comes an unlikely saboteur... JP. Dinner for six with five
entrees. And she snowballs. And Jay spills some risotto on Ramsay's nice
whites. Meanwhile, Scott refires scallops Holli spots.
... and it's Benjamin's turn at the pass.
Strong start... Scott has Wellington up... and Ben's about to serve
it... but it's lamb, not venison on order. Ben tries to regroup, but
here comes a strip instead of a filet. Ben recovers from those two
dishes.
.... and it's time for Autumn. Will she
keep the pace going while running the plate? She will.. but we don't
like it. Scott has a dish on his way to set her down a peg. The salsify...
is parsnip. And she misses it. Then she overdoes it (at least from the
chefs' POV). But she impresses.
This is going to be a hard decision.
Right now, though, let's concentrate on the finish. And... DONE. Two
good services in a row.
And Ben didn't even think about his back,
instead, thinking about how he's the only person who could possibly beat
Jay.
Remember, two people are going home
tonight. The other two are going to the final.
ELIMINATION
Benjamin says he's a good chef. He
bounces back and kills himself for this place. Jay has never had a bad
service, and he's been very consistent. Autumn has never quit. Holli is
also consistent, and she's never been up for elimination.
Compelling arguments, all of them.
Leaving first tonight... AUTUMN. She's
shown passion, dedication, and fight... but now she has to show Ramsay
her jacket.
Leaving second tonight... is... not...
JAY. HE'S IN THE FINAL!
That leaves Holli and Benjamin. Who'll
Jay face next week in the final? It is... HOLLI! Benjamin never gives
up. But now he's gotta give it up.
So the final is set. Next time you see
Jay Santos and Holli Ugalde, they'll be cooking AGAINST each other for a
title. The greatest challenge of all is still to come.
