13 Chefs Compete
June 15
Last hour on Hell's Kitchen, stuff happened, Fran
got burned, and Jamie was sent home. Now you're up to speed with Ramsay's quest
for the best, something he sees in both Fran AND Salvatore. He's not given up on
either. And he shouldn't.
Next on the menu... Hell's Kitchen Craps.
Remember, each roll is an ingredient, and you're putting together one dish.
BLUE
- Halibut (Scott)
- Endive (Jason)
- Salsify (Ed)
- Crab (Ben)
- Peas (Jay)
- Bacon (Sal)
RED
- Beets (Fran)
- Shallots (Nilka)
- Mango (Autumn)
- Ham (Siobhan)
- Turnips (Maria)
- Duck (Holli)
And the resulting dishes are ready 30 minutes
later.
RED: Mango-Glazed Duck with Mashed Turnips, Ham,
Shallots, and Beet
BLUE: Pan-Roasted Halibut with Bacon, Pea & Crab Ragout, Salsify Puree, with
Endive Salad
WINNER... BLUE!
The ladies will scrub the entrance AND prepping
the kitchens. The men... are going skydiving. Jason don't jump out of planes. He
IS the Mr. T of the team after all... You ain't gettin' me on no damn plane...
Someone bring the chloroform for BA please... Actually, it's more of a tube
instead of a plane. It's the whole Paraclete thing. I've done it. It's awesome.
The guys return... and they're pretty much
unprepped for service. "We're sorry in advance." Oh dear. Maria takes a moment
to collect herself in the back foyer. Souschef Andi basically tells her to stop
being emotional, because it's going to kill her.
Tonight is VIP night in the kitchen, with chef's
tables installed. In the Red kitchen, Kevin Frazier (ET). In the Blue: Debi
Mazar (Entourage).
OPEN HELL'S KITCHEN!
DINNER SERVICE
Also dining tonight... Dr. Phil's kid
Jay, his hot wife, some chick from "True Blood", a few actors, a few
actresses, a football player, some chick from ESPN... and the usual
assortment of nobodies that I would give my left arm to dine with.
Scott is trying to help Jason out... and
Jason's... kinda backing himself into a corner here. Ed... same way. Jason's
starter is perfect and the Blues are off and running. Siobhan's capellini... has
lobster in it, not crab. Salvatore is trying to regain his focus... and
Siobhan's capellini... STILL has lobster! Back to Sal and his snapper... and
it's out to the diners! Sal is Scott's pet project...
Appetizers are going out the diners at a steady
clip... as are the entrees. Sal's perfect salmon is waiting for Ed's potatoes...
which are still rock hard. Autumn... is using the wrong tool to handle her fish.
You use a fish slice, not a pair of tongs. Just a little food for thought.
Meanwhile, the teacher has become the student, as
Scott's rare beef is sent back to refire, all while JP is doing damage control.
Nilka serves up perfect Wellingtons to the chef table, while Scott is hoping for
the same success. That doesn't happen. Salvatore, on the other hand, gets fish
to the chef table. Even with a little banter.
The ladies keep a momentum going, while Scott...
is finally getting the point. This results in... the best service to date, and
almost three hours in. New record. Let's switch it off.
But still, someone has got to go. Salvatore and
Nilka, being the best of their squads, are given the nod to nominate. The ladies
want Autumn (has an excuse for everything) and Siobhan (mixed up her
ingredients) to go. Salvatore, though, has a talk with Scott, telling him to
concentrate on his station. This is not going to be easy for anyone.
ELIMINATION
Nilka finds herself in a familiar
position... as does Autumn, who has book knowledge but no potential.
Salvatore... sends his friend Scott.
Autumn doesn't really have a respect for the
ingredient. Ramsay calls her "soulless". Scott was (excrement) on a shovel. He
says he's a leader, but Ramsay gives him a reality check: he's not as good as he
thinks he is.
Ramsay orders BOTH jackets off... and SWITCHED.
Autumn will be on the blue team, while Scott will cook for the red.
"After our best service yet, I've decided to give
both Autumn and Scott another chance, but they'd better excel, or they'll both
be gone."
Translation... Autumn... Scott... Better thank
your lucky stars that Andrew decided to quit. Dinner is served next week.
