Episode
3.21: Wheeling and Dealing
December 12
Last time on What's the Deal
Week, Mary Banford parlayed her love of Broadway into a Broadway package
of $62,000. Efren Afonte continues with his game tonight as we prepare
to roll out the Deal Wheel...
First, a recap. Efren is
playing to see his parents in the Philippines... who are in the house
tonight as a surprise. So far, he has opened 15 cases, not including his
own, #15
Round four begins
with three cases.
A spectacular round
will give us a spectacular offer...

Efren wants to get
married and start a family. Efren wants to be a weatherman.
Efren wants to see his parents. Well, the wedding's still a ways
off. And no one can be Jason Elliott... but we do have your
parents!
Back to the game, though.
$179,000 is on the table. He can deal and still play for triple that. OR
he can press on with a heck of a safety net. He'll... play on. NO DEAL!
|
$200,000 |
|
"All right, weather man."
$750 |
One big one, one
small one. The offer...
BANK OFFER

$ 10 |
$ 200,000 |
$ 50 |
$ 750,000 |
$ 750 |
$ 1,000,000 |
That's pretty good,
but it still pales in comparison to the two big ones left on the
board, and he can't knock them both out next round. NO DEAL.
Right on. That's
going to lift the bank offer skyward.
BANK OFFER
$281,000 |
|

$ 25,000 |
$ 10 |
$ 200,000 |

$ 1,000,000 |
Still a dealer's
board. Still a heck of a safety net. NO DEAL!
A good board gets
even better, which makes the Banker nervous. Let's see what he
offers...
BANK OFFER
$340,000 |
|
$ 5 |
$ 25,000 |
$ 10 |
$ 200,000 |
$ 50 |
$ 750,000 |
$ 750 |
$ 1,000,000 |
Could turn that into
more than a million. So it's a question of whether he wants to
take maybe a million... or maybe 3? The fiancee thinks that he
could take it. The future sister-in-law says to take it. Efren
decides... to ride it further. NO DEAL!
Okay, now the
banker's soiling himself. Here's his offer...
BANK OFFER
$493,000 |
|
$ 5 |
$ 25,000 |
$ 10 |
$ 200,000 |
$ 50 |
$ 750,000 |
$ 750 |
$ 1,000,000 |
There's a guarantee.
There's also a 2-out-of-3 shot at more than the bank offer...
which, all things considered, is pretty good. Sister says not to
risk it. Will he play the safety net... or let it ride?
NO DEAL! Throw the dice,
Efren!
Boo-yah bag had the
million, but it's okay, because $750,000 is still there, and
with the Deal Wheel, a million is not out of the question. Let's
see what the banker has...
BANK OFFER
$296,000 |
|
$ 5 |
$ 25,000 |
$ 10 |
$ 200,000 |
$ 50 |
$ 750,000 |
$ 750 |
$ 1,000,000 |
Okay, never mind.
The family wants Efren to deal... He says that he can't get any
better than where he is right now. No matter where he ends up,
he made it. Efren's parents say "Take the money!"
DEAL for $296,000! But was
it the right decision?
Yup.
Question now is, can he turn
that into $888,000? He can with a lucky spin on the Deal Wheel. Here's
what's going to happen. There are 30 spaces on the wheel...
- 10 spaces have 1/2,
cutting your deal in half.
- 15 spaces have x2, doubling your deal.
- 5 spaces have x3, tripling your deal.
Give the wheel a spin, then
run the pachinko ball up the stairs and drop it. Whatever the ball lands
on is what happens to your deal.
Efren gives it a spin... and
drops his ball... bounces around for a bit... and it land in 1/2, which
means Efren's going home with $148,000.
New game begins with ANTHONY
MOREIRA, a native New York Islander. He works a lot for a living down in
Miami. He wants to give back to his family, and then go on a vacation
maybe.
He's a big fan of "The
Office"... our version, not the UK. Well, maybe the UK one, we never
asked. And as I say at times like this, pay attention, this is relevant.
First up, Leyla gives up her
case for the cause...
Starting with six...

Draw board. Three
cases. Three big amounts. Forget the accountants for a sec. Big
momma says no deal. Nuff said. Everyone... including Anthony,
says NO DEAL.
That's a lot better.
The banker begrudgingly offers...

After Anthony's girlfriend joins him up on stage...
Big fake out. BANOODLES! |

A big hit. But at
least the banker left you with a safety net to keep playing. NO
DEAL!
Bye bye safety net.
But the banker has a gut feeling that the $200,000 is in the
case, so he raises it to...

There is a 25%
chance that Anthony has $200,000. Oscar's been calling this all
night. Brian... no idea. The family wants one more... Anthony
wants out. DEAL for $40,000!
BUT was it a good decision?
Alike had $5. Bank offer
would've been $65,000. Kelly had $500. The new bank offer would've
been... $102,000. Oscar said the money was in #12... The banker says
it's in #13.
In #13...
Oscar did it again.
He got every one tonight.
But can he predict what's
going to happen at the Deal Wheel? Unfortunately, that's a negatory.
So what does happen at the
wheel? DOUBLE, that's what. Anthony's got $80,000!
Great way to end the show.
We're taking next week off, but we'll be back Christmas Day with who
KNOWS what. |
