Episode
3.18: Summer in December
December 7
Last time, two big losses
and one big win as a game with a twist resulted in Summer Andrew taking
home $74,000.
Now we bring a bit of the
summer to December, and that means... models... in bikinis. And just so
we're not totally chauvinist here... Howie... in deck shorts. And here
to play a little Beach Blanket DOND with them, DEMETRES BOYD. She's from
Houston, where she's an adult probation officer who's looking for her
own place.
We start this journey, as
always, and today it makes me kinda sad... but we gotta deliver at least
one case for Demetres to play with. This time, it's #10.
Starting with the
six.

is Demetres. NO DEAL.

Still a rough game

alone. She's got her mom, her cousin Sonya, and former player
Shayla Ellis (she won $264,000). She's Demetres' sorority
sister.

Probably should've
picked Hayley, because the offer went down.

Going to the phone
with the ultimate banker board... and a pity offer.

Not bad. Not
overwhelming, but not bad. There's a draw board with one case
next time. Bank offers...

There's a
one-in-three chance that Demetres has more than the offer. NO
DEAL.
Good move. Let's see
what the banker says about how good this is.
BANK OFFER

Still a bit of a
cushion. It is a lot of money, but there's a lot more on the
line. Crowd seems to agree. NO DEAL.
There goes the
cushion. But here goes nothing with the raising of the offer...
BANK OFFER
$44,000 |

$ 50,000 |

Shayla wants
Demetres to take the money. The rest of AKA wants her to take
it. Demetres... doesn't want to take it. NO DEAL.
|
Finally getting around to that... After the break.
$75 |
That's why she loves
Hayley. Banker doesn't love Hayley as much after that. Here's
his new offer...
BANK OFFER
$65,000 |
|

$ 75 |
$ 50,000 |
$ 400 |
$ 75,000 |
$ 500 |
$ 200,000 |
A lot of money to
give up, but less to lose. Demetres is a risk-taker. But $65,000
will do a lot. There's a one-in-three chance at having
$200,000... NO DEAL.
Oh yeah. Left's
clear. And sure enough... Kendhal's the only one left. Now let's
hear what the banker has left.
BANK OFFER
$110,000 |
|

$ 1,000 |
$ 75 |
$ 50,000 |
$ 400 |
$ 75,000 |
$ 500 |
$ 200,000 |
Now THAT... is
walking money. It's a bigger risk than a reward. The panel
notes that this is more than what Demetres has EVER had. But
from a strategic standpoint, this is the time. Everyone says
DEAL...
"I'm going all the
way." DON'T BE A HERO, DEMETRES!
NO DEAL! All of a
sudden, someone boos. Understandably. Does she switch? Nope.
Which means, Demetres Boyd, you are going home with...
Should've taken the
deal. But props for being so gutsy.
New player... and new
twists... next time. |
