"The Paso Doble/Foxtrot Fandango" - June 29

Hi, dance fans, Pierre Kelly is here for Dancing With The Stars as Joey, John & Kelly perform the Fox Trot and the Paso Doble vying for a spot in next week's grand championship. Each of the couple performances will be ranked twice on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest for 1 judge and if all 3 get 10's, it's 30 points. Whoever has the lowest public votes this week will be sent out of the ballromm immediately. Last week, it was a shocker, as Rachel & Johnathan flew out of the ballroom by the lowest public votes. Who will be the next to go this week? Will it be Kelly Monaco from General Hospital, John O' Hurley from Seinfeld or Joey McIntyre from New Kids On The Block? Only one way to find out as this week's show is on the air.

FOX TROT
Up first, John & Charlotte. Last week, they samba into 2nd place. Will it mean 1st this time in the Fox Trot? They'll be dancing to Nat King Cole's "Let There Be Love." The couple did some nice gliding in the song, but Charlotte did some quick turns at the portion. Getting towards the end, Charlotte did a few kicks and kissed each other's hands at the end. Will they kiss the dreams of going for next week's finals goodbye? Let's say hello to the judges:

Len said it was unbelievable, Carrie Ann said it brought it all back tonight and Bruno said it had sophisticated elegance. So, let's go the scores:

LEN: 9 CARRIE ANN: 9 BRUNO: 9 Total: 27
Now that's an excellent way to start the show!

Taking 2nd is Kelly & Alec. Last week, despite Kelly's wardrobe malfunction in the samba round, they took the lead stolen from Rachel & Johnathan by 1 point. Can they do it again? They'll be doing a Fox Trot to Norah Jones' "Don't Know Why." At the band area, both walk towards each other by the start of the song, and Kelly did a little dip up & down the stairs. Both did some fancy footwork when they hit the floor and Kelly did some leg lifts there. Alec did some leg spins there, but by the end of the song, both couples did a leg split. Now let's split on over to the judges: Len said it was a terrific effort, Carrie Ann said they're enjoying it and Bruno said it did very well, but there were a few mishaps. Will it be a last place train wreck just like they did the 1st 2 weeks? We'll see...

LEN: 7 CARRIE ANN: 8 BRUNO: 7 Total: 22
And it'll be 2nd place for them.

Lastly in this Fox Trot round, Joey & Ashly. Last week, their Samba was a no-no by the judges. Will their fox trot routine become so-so by the judges? They'll be dancing to "Hey Big Spender" by Shirley Bassey. At the start of the song, Joey did a little goofing off to the crowd. But then, Ashly did some spins 1/3 of the song there. But getting close to the end, Joey wandered off and Ashly yanked him to come back, hmm, that's interesting, and by the last few seconds, They both did some kicks and to end it, Ashly sat on Joey's right knee and looked at each other in the eyes closer. Will it be closing time for them at elimination? Let's go to the judges for a closer look: Len said it was percolated with footwork, but not enough fox trot there, Carrie Ann said it broke out when they did and Bruno said it appreciates the performance, but needs to do a fox trot fast. Will they break out into 1st place? To th! e scores we go:

LEN: 6 CARRIE ANN: 8 BRUNO: 6 Total: 20
No Macaroni & Cheese for 1st, but it's good for 3rd place

So after 1 round, John & Charlotte are in the lead with 28, Kelly & Alec take 2nd with 22 and Joey & Ashly need some catching up to do because they have 20 points. Will that change in the Paso Doble round? Let's Party!

PASO DOBLE
John & Charlotte will lead off this round. They lead with 28 points. They'll be doing a Paso Doble to "Spanish Gypsy song." John did some Spanish dancing by the start of the song while Charlotte did a few spins at the portion and getting towards the middle, she did a big right kick there. By the middle of the song, John pulled out the red cape and had a little fun with Charlotte, but then he threw it away. By the end of the song, Charlotte did a running home plate slide across the floor. Will they get tagged out at elimination? Let's go to the judges and see what they think: Len said the performance was great and the timing was good, and Carrie Ann said they're the couple to beat still. Will that be the couple to beat at elimination? Only the scores tell the tale:

LEN: 9 CARRIE ANN: 9 BRUNO: 9 Total: 27
Just like the last round, they take 1st place again.

Next up, Kelly & Alec. Can they take 1st place this time like last week? They'll do a Paso Doble to The Gypsy Kings' "Bamboleo." They did everything, twists, shakes and even some single turns. Alec did some on his own by doing kicks and a between the legs slide through Kelly. Getting near the end, Alec did some spinning while Kelly did a leg lift when Alec carried her over. By the end, Kelly did a big dip with a leg lift. Now we go over to the judges: Len said it was a great performance, Carrie Ann said the lines on the routine was great and Bruno said it's getting better all the time. Will it be for better or for worse? Let's head on over to the scores:

LEN: 8 CARRIE ANN: 9 BRUNO: "a sexy" 8 Total: 25
It may be solid, but solid enough for 2nd place.

Last up, Joey & Ashly. They need 26 points to get back into this game. They'll do a Paso Doble to Survivor's "Eye Of The Tiger." Joey woke Ashly up from a quick nap and she rose up with a little spinning. During a portion of the song, Joey did a little knee bend. Getting towards the chorus, they both did single spins, but by almost the end of the song, Ashly dipped, lied down and held on to Joey's right leg while Joey raised his fist in the air. Will they rise up from the last-place grave from the last round? We go the judges to find out:
Len said it had passion, aggression & control, Carrie Ann it saw determination and Bruno said it looked like a matador. Will they cry "Ole'!" when they get into first place? We go to the scoreboard one last time:

LEN: 8 CARRIE ANN: 9 (no audio) BRUNO: 8 Total: 25
And they are tied for 2nd.

So with that, we tally up the scores of all 3 couples' routines...

John & Charlotte: Fot Trot: 27 Paso Doble: 27 Total: 54 (3 ranking points)
Kelly & Alec: Fox Trot: 22 Paso Doble: 25 Total: 47 (2 Ranking points)
Joey & Ashly: Fox Trot: 20 Paso Doble: 25 Total: 45 (1 ranking point)

Now's let see who's going on to the grand finale. We need 1/2 of the final 2 to go through and that's...John & Charlotte! Now we need another 1/2 to complete it, who will be the perfect half and who will be 1/2 off? The couple's box we get rid of tonight is...Joey & Ashly. Kelly & Alec remain safe for the finale. As we end, Joey & Ashly dance one last time to Abba's "Winner Takes It All." Next week, it'll be a "winner takes all" as Kelly & John go head-to-head for the title of ultimate dancing couple. Go to abc.com and vote to see who wins it. (must have an account) Until then, it's Pierre Kelly saying dots & power pellets, I'm out.
