"The Quickstep/Rumba Rampage" - June 18

Hello everyone, Pierre Kelly back again for week 2 of "Dancing With The Stars," and it's about to heat things up here, because by the end of this show, one couple will be vanished from the competition. This week, the men will perform a quickstep while the women will perform a rumba, and when it's all said and done, the judges will give a score of 1-10 with 10 being the highest and 30 being the maximum. After all 6 have performed, the couple with the lowest public votes is gone. Are we ready to do this? Let's party!

Kicking things off is Rachel & Johnathan. Despite the negativity of the judges, they ended up in a 1st place finish. Will the judges get positive for a 1st place finish again? They'll be doing a rumba to Aerosmith's "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing." Johnathan took a nice knee sweep into the chorus, while Rachel took a few drops and did a little leg work on her own. By the end, Rachel took a big dip by her partner, but will it get more positive from the judges this time? Len said it saw everything there, Carrie Ann said it started nervous, but excelled in it and Bruno said Rachel's thinking Rita Hayworth, but is Rachel thinking of a gold medal? On to the scores:

LEN: 8 CARRIE ANN: 8 BRUNO: 8 Week 2 Total: 24 + Week 1 Total: 20 = 44
This is an excellent way to start the show!

Up 2nd, Joey & Ashly. They kickstarted the season off with a bang, but will any missteps end in a last place whimper? They'll bang out with a Quickstep to "You're the One That I Want" from "Grease." To start it off, Ashly helped Joey put on his suit jacket. They worked it all over the floor throughout the song, but by the end, Joey pointed at Ashly. Now let's point over to the judges: Len mistaken the wrong name, but they need to concentrate on their posture, Carrie Ann said it didn't miss a single step and Bruno said they need to do smaller steps a little more. Will that be a big step into first? On to the scores:

LEN: 7 CARRIE ANN: 8 BRUNO: 6 Week 2 Total: 21 + Week 1 Total: 20 = 41
Not bad for second place.

Doing third is Trista & Louis. Last Week, their waltz ended in a simple walk. Will they run over the leaderboard? At practice, she brought along her husband Charlie to help. How will that happen? They'll be doing a rumba to Diana Ross/Lionel Richie's "Endless Love." And as you can tell, they're doing it slow with ease, but by the end, Louis held her foot for balance. Will their balance fall into last place? Let's see what the judges think: Len said it was breezy, Carrie Ann said it didn't seduce her partner very well, and Bruno said it needs to feel the heat. Will last place turn cold for them? Let's go to the scores:

LEN: 6 CARRIE ANN: 6 BRUNO: 7 Week 2 Total: 19 + Week 1 Total: 18= 37
Ouch! That turned out to be a third place finish.

Making their way into fourth position, John & Charlotte. Last week, They both acted like leaders. Will they keep it up? They'll be doing a quickstep to "Let's Face the Music & Dance." The song began with them doing a little improv acting about a loving couple, but then they acted like professional dancers. By the end, John spun Charlotte around, but will that acting deserve a 1st place award? Let's hear what the judges said: Len said everything was great, Carrie Ann said they are the couple to beat, and Bruno said it set the standards for both of them. Now, we go to the scores:

LEN: 9 CARRIE ANN: 8 BRUNO: 9 Week 2 Total: 26 + Week 1 Total: 20 = 46
And they're now in the lead!

Next in line, Kelly & Alec. Last week, a waltz put them in dead last. Will they rise up from the graveyard of ballroom dancing? They'll be doing a Rumba to Enrique Iglesias' "Hero." Kelly got the swerve on at the intro by herself, and when Alec teamed up at the verse, they added a little romance throughout the song. Will that performance become a horror story? We go to our judges: Len said it was better but brittle, Carrie Ann said it looked very sexy, but awkward, and Bruno said the team has improved but it needs work. After a commercial break, we get these scores:

LEN: 6 CARRIE ANN: 5 BRUNO: 6 Week 2 Total: 17 + Week 1 Total: 13 = 30
Just like last week, No dice. John & Charlotte still lead it.

And lastly, Evander & Edyta. Last week, the crowd won the "respect" of second place. This week, the 2 had some fancy footwork in a boxing ring in practice. Will this be a TKO for 1st? They'll be doing a quickstep to "It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing." The song began with both spinning around, and by a little instrumental break, they had a little fancy footwork along the way. By the end, Edyta spun around on the floor. Will they breakdance into first? To the judges: Bruno said it wasn't exactly their best, Carrie Ann said it admired the routine and Len said it was good, but would like to see Bruno in the ring... Okay, let's get the scores one last time:

LEN: 4 CARRIE ANN: 5 BRUNO: 5 Week 2 Total: 14 + Week 1 Total: 18=32
This week score had to hurt, but it didn't being in fifth place.

So far, let's recap: In 1st, John & Charlotte with 46, 2nd has Rachel & Johnathan with 44, 3rd goes to Joey & Ashly with 41, 4th goes to Trista & Louis with 37, Taking 5th is Evander & Edyta with 32 and dead last goes to Kelly & Alec with 30. But will the public votes change? TO THE ELIMINATION ROUND!

In no particular order... Crossing the finish line 1st... Joey & Ashly! Next up... John & Charlotte! Also safe in 3rd... Evander & Edyta! Right behind them is... Kelly & Alec! It all comes down to Rachel & Trista, who'll stay here in this competition? The one going home is... Trista & Louis. Rachel & Johnathan remain safe for next week. And as we go over the credits, Trista & Louis dance one last time to "Never Can Say Goodbye." But, I have to say goodbye for now. Remember to vote online at abc.com (must have an account) to vote for your favorite couple. Until next week, I'm Pierre Kelly saying dots & power pellets, I'm out.
