Week 6: Running an Ant Hill Mob
October 26

With Natalie Coughlin's unexpected nosedive into elimination, the 9 couples better be getting their running shoes on. This week, they'll either do a waltz or a jitterbug, and later, they'll race in the first-ever Mambo Marathon. The stage is set, the green flag drops!

Going first is Mya & Dmitry doing a jitterbug to "C'Mon Everybody" by Eddie Cochran. It brought a lot of energy into everybody, but I wonder what the scoreboard says:

CARRIE: 8
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 9
Total Score: 24
That's a great way to start out the night.

Melissa & Mark are ready to dance a waltz to "Only One Road" by Celine Dion. It took a bit of elegance and grace to use it. Now the scoreboard:

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 6
Total Score: 20
And they fall short of 1st.

Next will be Mark & Lacey doing a jitterbug to "This Cat's on a Hot Tin Roof" by the Brian Setzer Orchestra. Mark got started with a solo dance and jumped over Lacey. Later, he broke it down on the floor, and by the end, we break down the numbers:

CARRIE: 9
LEN: 9
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 26
They jump into the lead!

Next is Aaron & Karina doing a waltz to "Three Times a Lady" by the Commodores. Aaron did a twirl on Karina and she did a ballet spin. Aaron, however did one of his own. Karina, then did another ballet spin and that was it. Now to the judges. Carrie Ann said it was gorgeous, Len said it danced with maturity and Bruno said the boy becomes a gentleman. Now the scores:

CARRIE: 8
LEN: 9
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 25
And they take up 2nd place.

Now up is Michael & Anna looking to get out of last for the very first time as they waltz to "I Wonder Why" by Curtis Stigers. We were just wondering has he improved or declined on this routine? You'll have to see for yourself. And now you've seen it, here's the numbers.

CARRIE: 6
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 6
Total Score: 20
And once again, it's last place.

Kelly & Louis will jitterbug to "Bread & Butter" by the Newbeats. She fought off an injury last week to prove the world, she's never a quitter. This routine tells us why. And we go to the scores:

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 6
BRUNO: 7
Total Score: 20
And it's now a tie for last place.

Louie & Chelsie go up next doing a jitterbug to "My Baby loves to Rock It" by The Tractors. The snowboarder shred his way into the ballroom with that dance. Now to the scoreboard.

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 7
Total Score: 21
And they stay one position out of last.

We got Joanna & Derek coming up next doing a waltz to "Be Here to Love Me" by Norah Jones, who you saw from last week. They took it slow in the ballroom and the fans liked it. Let's see if the scoreboard helped.

CARRIE: 8
LEN: 9
BRUNO: 9
Total Score: 26
They tie for the top!

To end the round, Donny & Kym doing a jitterbug to "Choo Choo Ch'Boogie" by Bill Haley & The Comets. In the later seconds, Kym did a slide through and everything else was train-related. To the judges. Carrie Ann said it had a few out of sync moments, Len said it wasn't a stumble and Bruno said it was a little bit of tank. Let's refuel with the scores:

CARRIE: 8
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 24
And it's now a tie for 3rd.

So to recap, 2 26s go to Joanna & Mark, Aaron has 25 and Donny & Mya share the lead with 24, Louie has 21, and at the bottom, Kelly, Michael & Melissa all have 20. It's time now for the mambo marathon. It's about to become a war. One tap on the shoulder and you are history. The scoring system goes like this: You get 2 if you're the first person tagged, and if you're the last couple standing, you get 10 points. So that really helps your scores. With that said, let the carnage begin!

MAMBO MARATHON

And they're off! There's a lot of shaking going on around here, but Michael & Anna get out the door with 22 added to their total. Louie & Chelsie say adios, but get tres for 23 points and one spot out of last. Melissa & Mark say see ya, but it's 4 points for 24 points. Kelly & Louis get snakebit , but bites into 5 points, turning that into 25. Mark & Lacey get out the door, but get 6 points for 32 points. Donny & Kym get 7 for 31...and the door. Soon after, it was goodnight for Aaron & Karina with 8 for a total of 34 points and the lead. Someone here will get the full 10 points. The last victim to get the 9 is..................Mya & Dmitry with 33, leaving Joanna & Derek with 10 for 36 and Marathon Monsters!

There is no more. But tomorrow there will be more. Which 2 low-scoring couples will dance one more time? You'll see why tomorrow. Race ya later.
