Mark Ballas (2-time champion; Melissa's partner)
Derek Hough (Took Brooke Burke to a title; Joanna's partner)

With Julianne Hough not on the list, it'll be hard to carry on with the show without her. Since it's always "ladies first," The gentlemen WILL go first. And by "will," I mean it. They'll do a cha-cha followed by 2 relay dances as a stipulation. I'll explain later. You won't hear them cha-cha to both themes from Blockbusters (Cullen or Rafferty?) or Trivia Trap (Arguably, my favorite theme of all-time), but you will hear something else once you watch it. Season 9....a new beginning....a new chapter.....

Starting things off is Aaron & Karina doing "Beggin'" by Madcon. The only highlight you might see was a flip by Aaron, but we flip over to the judges. Carrie Ann said he's all grown up, Len said it was a great start to the show and Bruno said it was a bit creepy. The numbers don't creep you out.

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 7
Total Score: 22
Nice start to the program.

I forgot to mention the foxtrot was on the list, too. So next up is Chuck & Anna dancing to "That's Life" by Frank Sinatra. His footwork was a bit off, but he picked up the pace pretty quickly. To the judges we go. Carrie Ann said it was smooth & charming, Len said he needs to be a but more graceful and Bruno said it was rough. Let us get the scoreboard:

CARRIE: 6
LEN: 5
BRUNO: 5
Total Score: 16
Not a good score, but they steal 2nd.

Next will be Mark & Lacey doing a cha-cha to "Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas. Since Mark has a lot of martial arts experience, he uses it for his routine. Let's swing by the judges. Carrie Ann said he needs to watch his arms a bit, Len said he didn't like the gimmicks, and Bruno said he needs to watch his timing a bit. Time for a score check!

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 7
Total Score: 21
And they steal 2nd place.

Now here's Ashley carrying on the family tradition with Edyta doing a foxtrot to "Grace Kelly" by Mika. It turns out that it has a connection with Hollywood and the ballroom. On to the judges. Carrie Ann said he was to set himself apart more, Len said he wants a bit more finesse and Bruno thought it was dead. Rise up for the scores....

CARRIE: 5
LEN: 6
BRUNO: 4
Total Score: 15
Way dead last!

Here's Donny & Kym doing a foxtrot to "All That Jazz" from "Chicago." They took a routine, and made it their own for the fans to watch. On to the judges again. Carrie Ann said he wants more content, Len asks for more theatrics & more ballroom and Bruno tells him to watch his shoulders. Watch this...

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 6
BRUNO: 7
Total Score: 20
They take up 3rd place.

Louie & Chelsie now foxtrot to "It's My Life" by No Doubt. It took the charm in the ballroom with a pop song. Now to the judges. Carrie Ann said she respected the ballroom, Len said he loves the technical side and Bruno loved the cuteness of the dance. Here comes the scoreboard....

CARRIE: 6
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 6
Total Score: 19
And they get up on 4th place.

Michael & Anna will cha-cha to "I Feel Good" by James Brown. They waste no time getting busy on their moves. On to the judges. Carrie Ann said he beat Jerry Rice for charisma, Len said it wasn't a great dance and Bruno said the footwork was out. Out come the scoreboards...

CARRIE: 5
LEN: 4
BRUNO: 4
Total Score: 13
They're now in dead last territory.

Last to take the floor before the relay dances is Tom & Cheryl doing a cha-cha to "Wild Thing" by The Troggs. Tom points to the camera and lip-synchs the song and Bruno gets a look on his face. Was it bad enough for the judges? Let's find out. Carrie Ann said he needs to clear the image, Len said the other stuff wasn't up his alley, and Bruno said it was crazier than Sarah Palin. Wanna see the scores? You betcha.

CARRIE: 6
LEN: 5
BRUNO: 5
Total Score: 16
They stay 2 positions out of last place.

After a round of play, Aaron, Mark and Donny are in the 20's, and everyone else is in the teens including Michael Irvin. Now it's time for the relay dances. In the starting line is Donny & Kym, Ashley & Edyta, Chuck & Anna and Louie & Chelsie. Up for grabs will be 10 points for 1st place, 2nd getting 8, 6 for 3rd and 4th getting 4. "Get Busy" will be the song to perform for a salsa, so on your marks, get set.....DANCE!!!!

RELAY DANCES
Ashley & Edyta came up first and Chuck & Anna were next . A nice move came in by Chuck and Donny & Kym came in to dance solo. After that, Louie did some flips along with Chelsie to round out the relay. Crossing the finish line first is...Donny....2nd goes to....Louie....3rd goes to....Chuck....and last place has Louie. We got 4 more couples ready to swing, and they'll waltz to "I Am Your Man." Ready....GO!

Aaron went up first to dance, then Mark came up next. Michael went ahead to dance and Tom went last. Our clear winner and getting the checkers...Aaron. 2nd place goes to....Mark. 3rd place....Michael, and Tom gets the final position. So here's your final check of the leaderboard.

Aaron and Karina : 32 (after the relay)
Donny and Kym: 30 (after relay)
Mark and Lacey 29 (after relay)
Louie and Chelsie: 27 (after relay)
Chuck and Anna T: 22 (after relay)
Tom and Cheryl: 20 (after relay)
Ashley and Edyta: 19 (after relay)
Michael and Anna D: 19 (after relay)

Aaron so far is in the lead, but the ladies want to show them how it's done. You'll see why tomorrow.
