Week 5: Going for Broke
October 19

With a UFC event scheduled for this weekend here in LA, Chuck Liddell got knocked out early, and 10 couples survive to do a paso doble or an Argentine tango, and later, a group hustle will be performed. Are the stars ready? Are the pros ready? Let's freakin' get it on!

First off, Natalie & Alec doing a paso doble to "American Woman" by The Guess Who. Natalie took a leg over Alec and responded with a fake kick. Natalie did a slide-through later. On to the judges. Carrie Ann called a lift, Len said it lacked a bit of aggression and Bruno said it was slightly wonderless. We wonder if the scoreboard had numbers...

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 7
TOtal Score: 22
That's a good way to start out.

Ready to dance now is Aaron & Karina doing an Argentine tango. It was very passionate from the way it started. On to the judges. Carrie Ann said it was excellent, Len said it came back to daddy...really and Bruno said it pulled & focused. Let's focus on the numbers, shall we?

CARRIE: 8
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 24
ANd they take the top!

Michael & Anna will now paso doble. Michael did some cape flirting and Anna messed it up with a floor spin botch. Let's see if the judges saw that. Carrie Ann said it was a favorite dance so far, Len said the posture was good and Bruno said the recession is over. Now we got your scores.

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 7
Total Score: 21
they take up 3rd place.

Now here's Mya & Dmitry doing an Argentine tango to "Who Are They" by Jem. Both danced in the band area, and on the floor, Mya did a 3/4 back split. Now let's split with the judges. Carrie Ann loved the opening sequence, Len lied it and Bruno said it was intricate like lace. Here come the numbers...

CARRIE: 9
LEN: 9
BRUNO: 9
Total Score: 27
And they cataputl into the lead!

Mark & Lacey prepare to paso doble. Lacey came out of smoke and Mark did a flip over. However, Lacey got a falldown. We fall in with the judges. Carrie Ann said it's in his power, Len said it had posture & performance and Bruno said it turned into a red devil. Let's turn the scoreboard on, devils!

CARRIE: 9

Last for the round, Joanna &....wait a sec, It's Maks taking over for Derek who had the flu earlier this week. For that, they do a tango to "Whatever Lola Wants." Joanna puts the jacket on Maks and did a footslide and drops him to the floor. Let's drop in to the scoreboard:

Donny has the lead with 29, 27 goes to Mya, Mark has a 26, 3 24s go to Aaron, Joanna and Kelly, Melissa has a 23, Natalie has 22 and Michael is in dead last once again with 21. Now it's time for the group dance.

GROUP DANCE

For this one, it's back to the 1970's. Guess who's teaching them how? It's Corky Ballas who taught Cloris Leachman how to act funny. But it's not going to be serious as we get it underway. They enter from behind the back entryway and 1 couple did a flying move, 1 used her back as percussion, a female partner from 1 couple doing a split and all ending simultaneously. Well, that'll end a big night of dancing, and tomorrow, we'll have a tribute to Michael Jackson. It's one you don't wanna miss. See you there.
