Episode 5.10 - Wipeout Salutes the Armed Forces
July 5

On this special week where we celebrate our Independence Day, we have 24 men and women of our Armed Forces taking on the mother of all battles... the Wipeout Course. At stake, $50,000 and the title of the toughest Grunt/Jarhead/Flyboy/Squid/Coastie in America.

But there's more to it than that today, because "Wipeout" and ABC will also be making a $20,000 donation in the winner's name to the USO.

THE WIPEOUT QUALIFIER

Tonight, the Qualifier consists of..

- Private Beejamin. Swing from one plank to another before the drone fires its stinger.
- Operation Big Balls... Flipping Motivator and Ballsy's Bonus in play. Anyone who knocks Shore Leave Smallsy off his perch on the fourth ball will win $500.
- The Drill Sergeant. Two swinging platforms and one rotating turret WANT YOU,
- The Panic Hammocks. Two rotating banana hammocks.

The 24 servicemen will take on the course, and the 12 with the fastest times will advance to stage 2. FALL IN!

Jonathan Wong and Johnny Huston pick up $500 for knocking Smallsy off of Ball Island. Two more do the same, but they fail to qualify. Apparently.

ADVANCING TO ROUND 2
- Jonathan "Boots" Wong - $500 Bonus
- Braiden Santos
- Richard Gilmore
- Sheena Hays
- Ryan "Sonar" Braley
- Daniel Glass
- Megan O'Connor
- Mark "Calendar Boy" Serrano
- Colin Cooper
- Thomas Headland
- Alex Ramirez
- Johnny "Dental Fly-genist" Huston - $500 Bonus

THE HANGOVER

Grab onto a handle and hold on over swizzle sticks, sweeper arms, and the big ball brawl wall. First six to the finish platform move on.

ADVANCING TO ROUND 3
- Jonathan "Boots" Wong - $500 Bonus
- Braiden "Medic Mousekini" Santos
- Marine recruiter Richard Gilmore
- Ryan "Sonar" Braley
- Mark "Calendar Boy" Serrano
- Johnny "Dental Fly-genist" Huston - $500 Bonus

SPIN PSYCHO

Make your way through a series of spinning platforms and sweeper bars onto the finish slide. First three to finish make it to the Wipeout Zone. The other three hit the showers.

ADVANCING TO THE WIPEOUT ZONE
- Jonathan "Boots" Wong - $500 Bonus
- Marine recruiter Richard Gilmore
- Mark "Calendar Boy" Serrano

THE WIPEOUT ZONE

Two Marines and one Seaman head into the Wipeout Zone for the $50,000 and $20,000 USO donation... Tonight in the Wipeout Zone...

- The Temple Of Flume. Eight story slide.
- The Commakaze. Slide down the comma to the next obstacle...
- The Spinergy. Balance on the rotating ring while dodging sweeper arms.
- The Three Cs of Wipeout.

Fifty-thou will go to the player with the quickest time.

First up is Marine recruiter Richard Gilmore. He takes way too many falls and way too many swims for a time of 16:30.

Next up, Seaman Mark Serrano. He's been quick on his feet all day. But the Wipeout Zone gets the best of him. After a tiring run through the Spinergy, Serrano calls it quits.

That leaves the door open for Marine newbie Jonathan Wong. Will he add on to his $500? YES! He has a time of 13:36, which is ENOUGH TO WIN $50,500 TOTAL! SEMPER FI!

Special thanks to all of our uniformed men and women who day in and day out protect our rights to enjoy stuff like this. Next time, another $50,000 and another 24 brave, yet foolhardy souls to take on the course. Until then, good night.... and Big Balls.

OO-RAH!
