Episode 5.1 - Deck the Balls
December 8

Ho ho ho and a bottle of OW! It's time to get your Big Ornament Balls ready for a brand new season of "Winter Wipeout!" But first, let's spread some holiday cheer with this sneak preview...

THE CHRISTMAS QUALIFIER

Tonight, the Qualifier consists of...

- The Sweet Nutcracker. Breakaway planks and smoking soldiers...
- The Candy Canes. Candy sweepers that'll stick to the roof of your head.
- The Jingle Balls... Now with a Santa Ho-Ho-Ho-tivator and a Christmas bonus. Anyone who grabs the Christmas bonus on the fourth ball will win $500.
- The Snowfall... with a giant rotating snowflake
- Santa's Workshop... Two of Santa's elves defend the finish line and Ballsy's eggnog.

The 24 will take on the course, and the 12 with the fastest times will advance to stage 2.

And before we continue any further, how about a big balls hand for the new sideline reporter, the host formerly known as Vanessa Minnillo. Welcome aboard Mrs. Lachey.

The $500 goes unclaimed, but these 12 will go on...

PAIN IN THE ICE

Contestants start huddled around an ice hole and drop onto a Fishing Pole sweeper arm onto a landing platform. Then it's a slick walk across the Lumber Tumbler over to the other side. Then it's a perilous trip across the Frosty Foot Bridge with a freezing rush from the Arctic Waterfall. Then they'll move it or luge it on the Snow Chute to the finish platform. First six to survive these reindeer games move on to the next stage.

Everyone gives the Lumber Tumbler platform a kiss at least once... And everyone who slides down the Snow Chute first misses... But Gamer Girl sticks the landing!

THE COLD HEARTED SNAKE.... IN 3-D

First up, two sets of slithering snow sweepers, then it's onto Plummet Summit, a 25-foot high rotating slide. Then it's the Shivering Timbers, rotating planks. Then comes the Snowball and onto the finish platform. First three move on to the Winter Wipeout Zone.

No one has mastered the timing needed for Plummet Summit. But Sandra... dead tired. Cookie Tease is the first to slide through to the Shivering Timbers.

ADVANCING TO THE WIPEOUT ZONE
David "Bagman" Bracken
Sam "Ebenezer Snooze" Ciurdar
Jim "Cookie Tease" Cashman

THE WINTER WIPEOUT ZONE

Boldly and coldly going forward where no player has gone before... the brand new Winter Wipeout Zone! Tonight...

- Killer Luge
- The Psychedelic Snowglobe: press the middle button on this snowy maze to release the exit platform.
- The Frozen Fury: uphill hurdles
- Iced Over: revolving diamond platforms

Fifty large goes to the quickest time.

First up is the Cookie Tease, Jim Cashman. And Jim owns all seven stories of the Killer Luge. He wipes out on the first try of the Snowglobe, but nails it perfectly second time out. Jim has the Frozen Fury down the second time. He sticks the landing in 14:25.

David Bracken had this in the bag all day, but now comes the payoff. He has to beat the time set by Jim. We already thought that that time would not hold up, but now it's going to be a tight squeeze thanks to that last wipeout. Bagman tries to go for it with three seconds left... NO! It's a DNF for him.

One last player to take on the Zone, and it's Ebenezer Snooze Sam Ciurdar. On the sideline, his wife Amanda, who wiped out earlier, is cheering him on. He's running just behind the pace set by Jim. Pays to be conservative, but he's got to move. He has four and a half minutes to nail Iced Over. He gets... the snooze knocked out of him. He has 20 seconds to make the jump... and he did! WITH A TIME OF 14:11, SAM CIURDAR IS THE WIPEOUT CHRISTMAS CHAMPION OF 2011!

More new episodes when "Winter Wipeout" returns in the new year. Until then, Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight... and Big Balls.
