4: GETTING A CLUE...AND ONE ABOUT A "FRIEND", TOO
As the boys collect...I dunno
WHAT they're collecting but they're collecting a fair amount of
them. Anyway, as they collect, RC worries about the rice getting
moldy in the rainy weather. So she sticks her hand in to see if the
rice is wet...and she sees a rolled-up piece of parchment! She
doesn't pull it out, though, because Blair...er, Lisa is looking
right over her shoulder. When Lisa leaves, RC gets the clue...and
immediately tells Abi-Marie. After all, they ARE alliance-mates. The
clue reads:
|
SECURITY AND POWER
ARE SOON WITHIN YOUR REACH
AN IDOL LAYS IN WAITING,
SOMEWHERE NEAR YOUR BEACH.
IT'S GOOD TO HAVE PROTECTION,
FROM FRIENDS AND FROM FOES.
IT COULD JUST BE SALVATION
IS RIGHT UNDER YOUR NOSE.

The two girls are excited at this
prospect. They take the clue to the well and hide it as they collect
water. Abi's happy that RC trusts her with this info...but she
remains wary about it all the same. After all, RC is getting a bit
close to Michael for Abi's comfort. they Teven stop talking when Abi
approaches them. When she confronts RC about this, RC claims he like
Michael but she's not making a "sub-alliance". Abi warns RC (with
profanity) not to betray her trust.
DAY 5: IT TAKES A LOT TO GET 'EM
RIGHT...
The near-constant downpour of rain means no fire...and that means no
warm food. So, as Tandang huddle in their shelter, they do the next
best thing in their minds: TALK about food. Well,...at least MOST
talk about it. Lisa is a shy introvert (join the club, "Blair") and
doesn't do when in social situations. So, when she walks away for a
while and sits by the well by herself, the tribe wonders if she
should be the first to go should they lose the next Challenge. Lisa
feels she's "on the outside" and, as such, may be on the outs as far
as her tribe goes. Does she think she can play this highly social
game while not being able to talk to her Tribe-mates? Maybe not.
Just because you're a fan of the game doesn't mean you can PLAY it
well, I guess...
DAY 6: REWARD/IMMUNITY CHALLENGE:
MANILA FOLDERS
The sun peeks out for a little while as the three Tribes arrive at
Challenge Clearing and we get to see that Matsing has sent Zane back
to Doofenshmirtz Evil Inc. in Danville. The twin Tribal Immunity
Idols are returned to Uncle Jeff and he gets to the Challenge del
dia. Two Tribe members will haul a sled across the sand to retrieve
bundles of wooden puzzle pieces, trading off to two others with each
bundle. Once all the bundles are in, one member acts as a caller to
help two others put together a complex three-part puzzle. First two
to get all the pieces in place win Immunity and gets to chill, while
the third heads to the Pagoda of Doom for Council. Not only that,
but the first Tribe to finish the puzzle wins pillows, blankets and
a tarp to make this nearly-perpetual monsoon weather more bearable.
And the SECOND-place Tribe ALSO gets a tarp. Considering it's been
nearly a week of nothing but rain, this is SO worth playing for. Of
course, since Matsing's down to 5, Kalabaw and Tandang need to sit
one out. The red group sit out Dawson and Abi volunteers for the
yellow group. Once again, we hear the strategy meetings and how
Russell TRIES to be a passive-aggressive leader.
"Survivors ready...GO!"
Carter and Jeff head out for Kalabaw, Pete and Michael for Tandang
and Russell and Angie for Matsing. Kalabaw reach the bundles first,
but Tandang are fast on the loading and take a brief lead heading
back. Matsing...well, they haven't improved in the last three days,
let's put it that way. RC and Artis head out for the second bndles,
but RC slips in the sand. Katie and Jonathan use this brief slip to
catch up while Malcolm and Roxy try to haul @$$ to catch up. Kalabaw
passes Tandang en route back and Matsing makes up a lot of time with
Malcolm pulling and Roxy pushing. The first groups head out for the
last bundles, the furthest away. But the positions remain the same:
Kalabaw in first, Tandang in second and Matsing (with Angie on the
verge of collapse) in third.
Now the puzzling begins. Kalabaw has Dana calling and Jeff and
Jonathan piecing. Tandang has Lisa leading RC and Pete while Matsing
has Malcolm and Russell being bossed by Denise. The pieces are
folded up, open up into Tetris-like tri-, tetr- and pent-ominoes and
only fit one correct way together. The ladies above shout to those
below and Kalabaw completes the first part of the puzzle, though
Tandang are close behind in second. Matsing aren't out yet; they
finish their first part not too far behind. Then communication seems
to break down between Dana and her puzzle-solvers, allowing Lisa to
lead Tandang to finishing the second part first. And Matsing ALSO
catches up and passes Kalabaw. Finally, the boys actually LISTEN to
Dana and get their second puzzle-part done.
Ladies speak loudly down at their Tribe-mates, directing them as to
how pieces should fit. Angie has a headache it seems as she gets out
of the shade and watches. Dana, Lisa and Denise act confident...but
Lisa (with a little help from Artis) gets the pieces to fit right.
TANDANG WINS IMMUNITY, TARP AND SLEEP COMFORTS!
Dana yells at her boys while Denise remains calm. Red vs. Blue in a
battle that would make Halo fans jealous...and when the dust
settles...by a slim margain KALABAW WINS IMMUNITY AND TARP!
Once again, the bird-like Idols go to Jonathan's and Michael's
Tribes...while Russell's Tribe will go down to four...and Russell is
NOT happy in the LEAST!!
