One burned his hands...

One was infected...

And the third? He nearly died on the game field.

Survivor is THAT cutthroat.
In reality TV, as in reality, second chances are hard to come by. But that's what's being given to Michael Skupin (Australia), Jonathan Penner (Fans vs. Favorites), and Russell Swan (Samoa), as they come back to the game to finish what they started, joining a former baseball Giant, a former teen actress, and 13 average Americans in the heart of the Philippines to play a little game ... of Outwit, Outplay, Outlast.

And so, for the 25th time... 39 days... 18 people... ONE SURVIVOR!

DAY 1: NOW WE'RE COOKING

The contestants...

KALABAW TANDANG MATSING
Sarah Dawson (28, Silver Spring, MD)
Katie Hanson (22, Newark, DE)
Jeff Kent (44, Austin, TX)
Dana Lambert (32, Winston-Salem, NC)
Carter Williams (23, Shawnee, KS)
Abi-Maria Gomes (32, Los Angeles)
Roberta "RC" Saint-Amour (27, New York City)
Artis Silvester (53, Terrytown, LA)
Lisa Whelchel (49, Dallas)
Peter Yurkowski (24, Holmdel, NJ)
Malcolm Freberg (25, Hermosa Beach, CA)
Zane Knight (28, Danville, VA)
Angie Layton (20, Provo, UT)
Roxanne "Roxy" Morris (28, Brooklyn, NY)
Denise Stapley (41, Cedar Rapids, IA)

The new 15 have arrived as they are introduced to themselves as three tribes instead of the usual two. Zane is happy about it as long as it isn't celebrities... Don't tell him, HE DOESN'T KNOW!

Remember, Survivor is that cutthroat... as the newbies meet the veteran three. They will be playing alongside and competing again for the million. Russell will be on the Matsing tribe... Penner will be on the Kalabaw... Skupin will be on the Tandang. Read about their adventures with newbie boffin Jason Huhn and veteran blowhard Chris Wolvie.

Hidden Immunity is in play this season. So is the boat of supplies with 60 seconds to gather as much as possible and GET OFF. From... NOW.

TIME'S UP. There's the island. Get on it. And be careful, because just because your supplies are on the raft doesn't means tnat they'll STAY there. As God is my witness, I thought chickens could swim.

Russell feels blessed to be back in the game. The last time he played, he was a leader, but now he's more about a team ball, get the stuff here, and get it on. ... Isn't that being a leader? Well, he doesn't seem to think so, and if it comes up, he'll just throw it to the guy who has no idea what he's doing.

And in doing so, Russell becomes a leader. Woops.

Malcolm's no stranger to the South Pacific. What you and I call roughing it is just normal to him.

And we start Day 1... with FIRE! Matsing lighting it up. Zane would give up his buff to know if anyone else has fire. But anyway, Malcolm and his new girlfriend Katie are thinking about letting Russell "not lead" just to get the target off THEIR backs.

DAY 2: MONKEYS!

Zane is from Danville, VA... he sure as heck sounds like Danville, Virginia. He dropped out and worked at a junkyard. His friend Denise... is a sex therapist. She's using that to analyze Zane's tats. She wants to know his story. He... wants an alliance. Zane... also wants to hear Denise's story, having dealt with everyone from a millionaire to a crack dealer. Roxy... thinks Zane could be a really good people person.

As for Zane... he thinks it should be Zane, Russell, and Malcolm, even though Zane has promised himself to every woman on the freaking island. Here's the thing that Zane DIDN'T count on... Malcolm talking to Denise about it. Will they talk "longterm"? Denise thinks he's young, but wise.

Meanwhile, the talk switches to coconut water... and rice. Russell decides to do the cooking and he finds... a CLUE!

SECURITY AND POWER
ARE SOON WITHIN YOUR REACH
AN IDOL LAYS IN WAITING,
SOMEWHERE NEAR YOUR BEACH.

IT'S GOOD TO HAVE PROTECTION,
FROM FRIENDS AND FROM FOES.
IT COULD JUST BE SALVATION
IS RIGHT UNDER YOUR NOSE.

DAY 3: REWARD/IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: SHARE THE WEALTH

Each tribe will be divided into pairs. The first pair will be bound and have to climb up a cargo net. The second pair will row outriggers to a buoy, then dive down and retrieve a chest to send back to shore. Third pair will try and put together the puzzle from the pieces in the chest.

WIN: Immunity; a complete firemaking kit
PLACE: Immunity; flint.
SHOW: A trip to Tribal Council.

Russell & Zane are out... in second. Artis & RC are out first. Zane is dragging... like he WANTS to go to Tribal. But he's done all he could do right now. Pete & Skupin are first, while Jeff & Carter of Kalabaw take over Matsing. It's not looking good, but it's not over yet.

.... NOW it's over. WINNER: Kalabaw. Runner up: Tandang. Matsing is going to Tribal. And everyone cites Russell's "not leading" as a factor, because... "I told you I'm not good at puzzles!"

Back at camp, Russell continues to... not lead. Zane decides... to do some leading of his own... saying he deserves a vote? He says that he's doing it to feel out his tribe, "run game" if you will. "I'm playing chess the best way I know how, and hopefully, I'm gonna king me."

Angie, a former Miss Teen Utah, knows how to compete and knows what a leader should be, and she has no problem telling the tribe that Russell's about as far from being a leader as you can be. As for Zane, Angie doesn't want to see him go. She wants Zane to vote for Russell (with Roxy). This has got to be the easiest blindside in Survivor history. A blind albino cave bat can see this one coming. The only thing he has to worry about is whether or not Zane has the Immunity Idol.

Malcolm is 95% sure that Russell has the Idol. Or that Zane is right. Russell made his first mistake today... in LEADING. And that old mode flip is sending the tribe to...

NIGHT 3: TRIBAL.

Fire = life. Last I checked, fire is good. No fire... notsomuch.

It's sad that someone's going home, but that's the game. Denise was mixed in having returning players, but it was an asset to have someone really drive the ship who knew how. Zane says that the veterans by their nature are better than you, saying that he's nervous. "You're getting TOO MUCH out of it." Russell translates Zane's onion analogy as "I'm going home tonight" because he was a dictator. Malcolm says that Russell was coming on too strong, and Russell would not be too shocked if he went home. Roxy tends to agree. And this is from a woman with a military background. Angie: "If we lose, it's your fault." Hopefully this day doesn't bespeak of the other two days. And Zane? He quit smoking the day he left for the Philippines, so there's that. Denise can either blame herself for the loss or blame leadership.

The point is, he's been to this dance before. It can go ANY WAY.

It is time to vote.

Russell: ZANE: "I'm not ready to go home yet. Wish you lots of luck, man."
Zane: RUSS: "If ya ain't first, ya last."

The others.... are for.... ZANE. By a vote of 5 to 1, Zane, THE TRIBE HAS SPOKEN. "Son of a bitch!" Son of a bitch indeed, idiot.
