Semifinals: Fogel/Firke/Fritz - February 13

Fifteen of the brightest teenagers from all across the country have been whittled down to nine, as the Jeopardy! Teen Tournament continues. One of them will walk away with $75,000 cash money and the mantle of Teen Champion.

Another standard two-week affair awaits as the first runner-up receives $25,000 at least, while the second runner-up wins at least $15,000.

Semifinalists are guaranteed at least $5000, while quarterfinalists are guaranteed $2500 for participation. As always, any and all winning accrued depends on how far up the ladder a player goes.

No more wild cards. No more second chances. No more room for error. It's win... or go home. Who'll join Ben Schenkel and David Walter in the finals? Let's find out...

Jeopardy! categories:

COUNTRIES BY CITIES THE CW THEME PARK FUN DESCRIBING THE VICE PRESIDENT FAST FOOD NATION OO, SORRY

Note about #6, each response will have the "oo" sound, but not the double "O"s.

Daily Double: $1000 Oo, Sorry. Stephen is in the lead with $8000 to Frank's $5200 and Heidi's $1000. "I'll wager $796." Okay! Clue: in the US Army or Marine Corps, a platoon is normally commanded by this officer. "Who is a lieutenant?" Right for $8796.

At the end of the Jeopardy! round...

$2,800 $5,200 $8,796
Heidi Frank Stephen

Double Jeopardy! categories:

BOOKS & AUTHORS OSCAR YOUTH US COINS MOUNTAINS COLORS IN ITALIAN "QUE" TIPS

Daily Double #1: $2000 "Que" Tips. Frank rallies to keep pace with Stephen's $11,196 with $10,000 of his own. Heidi has $3600. He bets $7500 on this: this country was once known as Portuguese East Africa. "What is Mozambique?" Right for $17,500!

Daily Double #2: $2000 Colors in Italian. Heidi at $5200 to Frank's $18,700 and Stephen's $12,396 needs to come hard here. "A true Daily Double." That she does. The clue: this metallic color is argento. "What is silver?" Right for $10,400!

At the end of the Double Jeopardy! Round...

Heidi Frank Stephen

Now we have to do some math.

Heidi wins if she bets everything and is right, while Frank and Stephen bet against each other and miss.

Stephen wins if he bets everything and is right, while Frank bets against him and misses.

Frank wins if he bets $12,493 and is correct.

Final Jeopardy category: ORGANIZATIONS

THE EMBLEM SEEN HERE IS NOW USED IN COUNTRIES WHERE THIS ORGANIZATION'S ORIGINAL EMBLEM WAS CONTROVERSIAL

Correct response: what is the Red Cross?

Heidi's response: what is the American Red Cross? RIGHT. Wager: $14,800. Total: $29,600.
Stephen's response: what is the Red Cross? RIGHT. Wager: $17,193. Total: $34,389.
Frank's response: what is the International Red Cross? RIGHT. Wager: $12,395. Total: $34,295.

Finalist: STEPHEN FRITZ

Mr. A says: I kept saying that the meta-game would be a key factor in these semifinal matches, and sure enough, it was, as Stephen took advantage of an unorthodox move to throw off his opponent. Frank learned that the hard way. The difference between a spot in the final and $10,000.... $94.

Tomorrow, the finals with these three players...
