Quarterfinals: Fritz/Gerlomes/Urban - February
6
Fifteen of the brightest teenagers from all
across the country have descended upon Los Angeles to compete in the Jeopardy!
Teen Tournament, where one will walk away with $75,000 cash money and the mantle
of Teen Champion.
Another standard two-week affair awaits as the
first runner-up receives $25,000 at least, while the second runner-up wins at
least $15,000.
Semifinalists are guaranteed at least $5000,
while quarterfinalists are guaranteed $2500 for participation. As always, any
and all winning accrued depends on how far up the ladder a player goes.

$800 and Eliza's $200. He wagers $500. The clue: this synonym of "speed" comes
from the Latin for "speed". "What is velocity?" Right for $3500.

Daily Double #1: $1200 19th Century American Lit.
Eliza is in third with $6600, but with Stephen at $7600 and Jeffrey at $11,100,
she can easily take the lead if she's brave enough. She only wagers $1000 to tie
Stephen, though. The clue: "The Legend of" this place is set in "Greensburgh...
which is more generally" known as Tarry Town. "What is... Sleepy Hollow?" Got it
for the tie and $7600.
To add insult to injury, Eliza gets a clue in
about Norway as Stephen was frantically buzzing in. Timing issues will get you.
Stephen: "I'll have the last clue." Okay.
Daily Double #2: $2000 Health Matters. Another close match can be decided before
Final Jeopardy! as Stephen has $12,800 to Jeffrey's $15,500 and Eliza's $10,000.
He only wagers $1000. The clue: very simply, myalgia is pain in any one of
these, often due to a stress injury. "What is a muscle." Right for $13,800.

Automatic
semi-finalist: STEPHEN FRITZ.
Mr. A says: By the skin of his teeth, Stephen lives to play another day, but had
Jeffrey gotten the correct answer, he would've been a serious contender. Just
serves as a reminder that the game never ends. Stephen hopes to take that lesson
into the next round if he's to stand any chance against current leader Hank
Robinson.
So far, Heidi Liu is still in the wild-card
running with $14,980, followed by Kristin Briggs $13,801, and Eliza with
$10,000. |
