Preliminaries: Meloni/Shearer/Malina
December 17

Last time on the Million Dollar Celebrity Invitational, it was ladies night, as Jane Kaczmarek took down her opponents to win $50,000 for the Clothes Off Our Back and to move one step closer to the Million Dollar Tournament Week in May, joining Michael McKean and Andy Richter.

We still need six more semifinalists, though, so today, and every third Thursday of every month, another winner will be crowed and will move one step closer to winning the top prize of $1 million for the charity of his or her choice.

The player who wins this game (and the five to follow) will donate at least $50,000 to their charity. The runners-up will take away $25,000. Any and all monies will be determined by how far up the ladder a player goes.

This month's stars are...

Christopher Meloni
"Law & Order: SVU"
Smile Train
Harry Shearer
"The Simpsons"
Common Ground Relief
Joshua Malina
"In Plain Sight"
Archer School for Girls

Daily Double: $600 Happy Federal Holiday! Harry and Chris are tied for the lead with $1600 to Josh's $1000. Harry fronts $400 on this: in 1792 NYC honored the 300th anniversary of a famous arrival with the first major US celebration of this holiday. "What is Columbus Day?" Correct for $2000!

$5,200 $5,000 $3,400
Chris Harry Josh

Double Jeopardy! categories:

SCIENCE THE
FOLKSMEN

CAUSE
PEOPLE
BOOKS
STABLER "ARG"!!!

Daily Double #1: $2000 People Books. Josh has ground to make up with $6200 to Harry's $13,400 and Chris's $12,800. Josh bets only $3300 on this: "Not Harry but the next best thing" said people of this woman's "The Tales of Beedle the Bard". "Who is JK Rowling?" That... would've been right, but Josh loses on this, leaving him with $2900.

Daily Double #2: $1200 Science. Josh has another chance with $4500, while the others are topping off at $13,000. He bets $3000 on this: fructose is a monosaccharide, a simple one of these. "What is a sugar?" Correct for $7500!

At the end of Double Jeopardy!...

$13,200 $13,000 $7,900
Chris Harry Josh

J-Archive.com calls this a 4/5 scenario.

- Josh wins if... Chris and Harry bet against each other and lose, while he bets no more than $7499 and no less than $5101
- Harry wins if... he bets between $2801 and $5099 and is right, while Chris bets against his double and is wrong.
- Chris wins if... he bets $12,801 and is right.

Final Jeopardy! category: FADS

IT WAS INSPIRED BY A PIECE OF AUSTRALIAN PHYS. ED. EQUIPMENT & 100 MILLION WERE SOLD WORLDWIDE IN 1958

Correct response: what is the hula hoop?

Josh's response: what is the boomerang? WRONG. Wager: $7899. Total: $1.
Harry's response: what is the hula hoop? CORRECT. Wager: $4000. Total: $17,000.
Chris's response: what is a Nautilus mahine? WRONG. Wager doesn't matter.

SEMI-FINALIST: Harry Shearer

The Final decides it again. Chris rallied. Harry rallied back. This was your typical two-man race, and if Harry did this well with little effort from a Daily Double, imagine what would happen had he found one.

Three new stars next month, January 21.
