Finals: Stoffers/Yozamp/Sabhapathy - Part 2
February
12
After two weeks of fierce competition,
we're down to the final three. At the end of Friday's show, it's going
to be the Wolverines of Michigan, the Bears of Wash U, or Bruin Nation
(C-Note: Hi, Kim) that will have a new hero as Surya Sabhapathy, Nick
Yozamp, and Ryan Stoffers compete for $100,000, the Jeopardy! College
Championship trophy, and a berth in the 2010 Tournament of Champions to
be held later this year.
Second place is guaranteed $50,000, while
third will get $25,000.
We're half an hour away from a big money
moment.

nothing... by 1980 a global vaccination effort led to the virtual eradication of
this, the only time that's been done to a germ. "What is smallpox?" Correct for

Daily Double #1: $1200 One B & 2
D's. Ryan's on a tear with $13,000 to Nick's $9000 and Surya's $8400. He bets
$3000 on this: it's the transmission capacity of an electronic communications
device. "What is bandwidth?" That's correct. "Delibrium-da" is not, dropping him
to $10,000.
Daily Double #2: $2000 African History. Ryan has
$11,600, but Nick is hot on his heels with $10,600.
Ryan bets $1000 on this: a kingdom of west central
Africa founded around 1390 is called this, like 2
current countries, but spelled with a K. "What is
Cameroon?" Nope, it's Kongo, tying him with Nick.

The magic number for Nick to lock
the tourney away: $3801. He bets that and is correct, he wins the shoot and
match straight away. If Ryan bets to lock out Surya, he too will have to bet
$3801. But if he does that, he will have no chance of winning UNLESS Nick bets
over $4200. So the key to victory for Nick at this point: bet the $3801 and ONLY
bet the $3801.

Surya's response: who are David & Saul? CORRECT. Wager:

Ryan's response: who are King Saul & King David? CORRECT. Wager: $1000. Total:
$12,800.
Nick's response: who are Ramses & David? WRONG. Wager: $3801. Total:

The Final proves decisive
yet again, as Ryan is vindicated for the upset victory! We will see you
