After two weeks of fierce competition, we're down to the final three. At the end of Friday's show, it's going to be the Wolverines of Michigan, the Bears of Wash U, or Bruin Nation (C-Note: Hi, Kim) that will have a new hero as Surya Sabhapathy, Nick Yozamp, and Ryan Stoffers compete for $100,000, the Jeopardy! College Championship trophy, and a berth in the 2010 Tournament of Champions to be held later this year.

Second place is guaranteed $50,000, while third will get $25,000.

Part 1 begins... NOW.

CYCLE OF LIFE DIRTY

Daily Double: $1000 Cycle of Life. Before we get to business, Nick is docked $400 for a line-ruling, giving him twice Ryan's total, $6000 to $3000. Ryan bets half his total on this: in addition to a cardio workout, cycling gives strength to muscles like this 4-part one at the front of the thigh. "What are the quadriceps?" That... would've been correct. Instead, Ryan blanks to $1500.

At the end of the Jeopardy! round...

Daily Double #1: $1600 We've Got Chemistry. Surya has moved to second place with $3800 to Nick's $6800 and Ryan's $3300. She bets $2000 on this: cellulose & nylon are examples of these large molecules made up of many smaller molecules called monomers. "What are polymers?" Correct for $5800!

Daily Double #2: $1200 The Fiction File. They were looking for it, but Surya found it. She is still in the middle, trailing Nick by $3000, $14,800 to Surya's $11,000. She bets $2000 again on this: in "The Tin Roof Blowdown", Iberia Parish sheriff Dave Robicheaux deals with the aftermath of this 2005 event. "What is Hurricane Katrina?" Correct for $13,800!

End of the round scores...

Final Jeopardy! category: COLLEGE HISTORY

THE PITTSBURGH UNIV. NAMED FOR ANDREW CARNEGIE IS THE USA's FIRST TO OFFER A DEGREE IN THIS MUSICAL INSTRUMENT

Correct response: what are bagpipes?

Ryan's response: what are the bagpipes? CORRECT. Wager: $5500. Total: $14,800.
Nick's response: what are bagpipes? CORRECT. Wager: $4400. Total: $20,000.
Surya's response: what is the piano? WRONG. Wager: $4600. Total: $12,800.

It would appear that Nick had learned his lesson from earlier this week, holding back and having a large bank to build upon for tomorrow's match.

$14,800 $20,000 $12,800

And we'll have that match NEXT TIME!
