College. The best time of your life.

College Jeopardy! The best two weeks of your life.

Fifteen of the nation's best and brightest have descended upon the campus of the University of Wisconsin at Madison to prove who's the best of the best. At stake, $100,000, the title of 2008 College Champion, bragging rights, and the right to compete amongst the best of the best in the next Tournament of Champions. Rivalries will be hard fought, upsets are certain, and any one move can spell either certain glory or certain failure.

This Spring Classic is another standard two-week affair, advancing the winners of this week's games as well as four wild-cards, high scorers among non-winners. All of this week's players will receive $5000, while the semifinalists will be guaranteed $10,000 for their participation.

The first runner-up receives $50,000 at least, while the second runner-up wins at least $25,000. As always, any and all winnings accrued depends on how far up the ladder a player goes.

Gabrielle McMahan, Danielle Zsenak, and Joey Beachum have their passes stamped for next week. In thirty minutes, three people will join them.

MADISON MEN MUSICAL STYLES FISHIN' IMPOSSIBLE BY, THE BOOK SHEER LUNAR SEA! RHYME TIME

Daily Double: $800 Madison Men. Suchita has $2400 as the crowd goes crazy. She bets $1200 of it on this: he was Secretary of State for part of Madison's first term & stayed in the post for the second term. "Who is Monroe?" Correct for $3600 and the lead over Danny's $2000 and Katie's $800.

At the end of the Jeopardy! round...

$2,200 $7,400 $2,000
Danny Suchita Katie

Double Jeopardy! categories:

MEDICINE THE BRAT FEST LET'S VISIT THE MIDEAST PRODUCT PLACEMENT WOMEN IN HISTORY GET YOUR "BA"

Daily Double #1: $1200 Medicine. Katie is still in the back with $2400 to Danny's $3000 and Suchita's $7800. She goes $1200 on this: the "mellitus" in the full name of this disease comes from the Latin for "honey-sweet". "What is ... cardiopulmonary disease?"  No, that's long enough. It was diabetes, leaving her with $1200.

Daily Double #2: $1600 Get Your "BA". It's the last clue in the round, and right now, Danny has $9000 to Suchita's $12,200 and Katie's $6800. He can lock Katie out of the win and have one less person to worry about in the Final with the right wager. He wagers... $3600. Won't do it, but... The clue: the introduction of ironworking around 1100 BC brought it to an end. "What is the Bronze Age?" Correct for $12,600!

At the end of the Double Jeopardy! Round...

$12,600 $12,200 $6,800
Danny Suchita Katie

Final Jeopardy! category: FAMOUS AUSTRIANS

THE HOME ON VIENNA'S DOMGASSE WHERE HE LIVED IN THE 1780s WAS REOPENED AMID FANFARE IN JANUARY 2006

Correct response: who is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart?

Katie's response: who was Mozart? RIGHT. Wager: $3000. Total: $9800.
Suchita's response: who is Mozart? RIGHT. Wager: $2008. Total: $14,208.
Danny's response: who is Motzart? RIGHT. Wager: $12,411. Total: $25,011.

SEMI-FINALIST: Danny DeVries

First of all, Danny, if you come across this somehow, I apologize for the weather crawl.

Danny and Suchita kept things nice and competitive in the front game, and you should look for both of them to do the same next week. Now we know that Suchita and yesterday's Andrew Chung will return alongside of Danny, but James Grant and Vera Swain are now on the bubble.

Final quarterfinal tomorrow.
