College. The best time of your life.

College Jeopardy! The best two weeks of your life.

Fifteen of the nation's best and brightest have descended upon the campus of the University of Wisconsin at Madison to prove who's the best of the best. At stake, $100,000, the title of 2008 College Champion, bragging rights, and the right to compete amongst the best of the best in the next Tournament of Champions. Rivalries will be hard fought, upsets are certain, and any one move can spell either certain glory or certain failure.

This Spring Classic is another standard two-week affair, advancing the winners of this week's games as well as four wild-cards, high scorers among non-winners. All of this week's players will receive $5000, while the semifinalists will be guaranteed $10,000 for their participation.

The first runner-up receives $50,000 at least, while the second runner-up wins at least $25,000. As always, any and all winnings accrued depends on how far up the ladder a player goes.

Gabrielle McMahan and Danielle Zsenak are the only people assured of a spot next week. Who'll join them? Let's find out...

Joey Beachum
Mississippi State
senior
Andrew Chung
Harvey Mudd College
sophomore
Dara Lind
Yale
junior

A little background, as Andrew shares a college with a former Jeopardy! College Champion. Which one, Alex doesn't say, but that doesn't stop Andrew from cowering behind his podium.

LITERATURE COLLEGE SPORTS FILMS FACTS FROM ALMANACS I LIKE TO DECORATE ANIMAL HOUSE GOT "LK"?

Daily Double: $600 Literature. Dara finds it out of the TV time out with $1000 to Andrew's $1400 and Joey's $2600. She bets $500 on this: chapter 48 of this English novel deals with "The Flight of Sikes"--Bill Sikes. "What is Oliver Twist?" Correct for $1500.

At the end of the Jeopardy! round...

$4,200 $5,800 -$100
Joey Andrew Dara

Double Jeopardy! categories:

OFF TO COLLEGE THE FRENCHMAN CLASS HOW SOPHOMORIC! I'M GOING TO BE A JUNIOR SENIOR YEAR G"RAD" SCHOOL

Daily Double #1: $800 Senior Year. Andrew still leads with $6200 to Joey's $4600. He bets $2000 on this: once featured on a US coin, she was past 80 when she founded the International Woman Suffrage Alliance. "Who is Susan B. Anthony?" Correct for $8200. "I should've made it a true Daily Double."

Daily Double #2: $2000 How Sophomoric!. Joey leads it with $16,600 to Andrew's $12,200 and Dara's $7100 rally. He bets $2000 on this: in 1805 this frontier novelist was kicked out of Yale, possible for seating a donkey in a professor's chair. "Who is James Fenimore Cooper?" He suppositorily responds correctly for $18,600.

At the end of the Double Jeopardy! Round...

$19,000 $13,000 $11,900
Joey Andrew Dara

Final Jeopardy! category: US PRESIDENTS

ONLY 50 YEARS OLD WHEN HE LEFT OFFICE, HE WAS OUR NATION'S YOUNGEST EX-PRESIDENT

Correct response: who was Teddy Roosevelt?

Dara's response: who was John Quincy Adams? WRONG. Wager: "A lot." $11,900. Total: $0.
Andrew's response: who is T. Roosevelt? RIGHT. Wager: $6200. Total: $19,002.
Joey's response: who is T. Roosevelt? RIGHT. Wager: $8000. Total: $27,000

SEMI-FINALIST: Joey Beachum

Joey won because he's intelligent. Andrew could've won because he's smart. He only needed to bet enough to either win OR secure him a spot amongst the Wild Card. That's where Dara lost it, being pennywise and pound-foolish when it really counts. As a result, this is as far as she goes. Andrew's total also knocks out Brandon Hensley from Monday's show.

Fourth quarterfinal tomorrow.
