Round
of 16: The Results
March 11
Gordon: This is Gordon Pepper, and it's time to see
who makes the Top 12.
Chico: ... and who just comes up a bit short. Hey folks... Welcome to tonight's
Idol recap... and it's a big one.
Gordon: Let's intro the crew. we start with my brother from another mother, Mr.
Chico Alexander.
Chico: What's good, nephew?
Gordon: Not much, cousin. From Brooklyn, my brother from someone else's mother,
Mr. Jason Block.
Jason: So this is what a REAL job feels like! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ LOL
Chico: YEP.
Jason: Seriously, glad to be here.
Gordon: And finally, my brother from a Canadian mother, Mr. Don Harpwood.
Don: Tonight should be quite the night.
Gordon: It should, so let's get it started with...
Chico: How do you like the graphic, BTW?
Jason: Sweet.
Don: Ooh, nice.
Gordon: Very pretty. Let's start with ugly though. Which 4 guys are in trouble?
Jason: Alex Lambert, Tim Urban, Andrew Garcia, Aaron Kelly
Don: I gotta agree with Jason on that.
Chico: This one is easy. Todrick, Andrew, Tim, and Alex.
Gordon: Todrick Hall, Tim Urban, Andrew Garcia, Aaron Kelly. Who's out? I'll go
with Todrick and Andrew in a shocker across the internet world.
Don: I'm thinking Andrew and Alex will be out.
Jason: Andrew Garcia, Aaron Kelly
Chico: Andrew and Todrick. Just makes the most sense to me. Todrick was outsung
by Michael, and Andrew was outsung by... well, everyone.
Gordon: Now for the ladies. Which 4 are going to be quivering in their booties?
Chico: Katelyn... Lacey... Paige... and Katie.
Gordon: I'll say Lacey Brown, Katelyn Epperly, Paige Miles and Katie Stevens,
Don: Paige, Katie, Katelyn, and Lacey.
Gordon: Now...which 2 are leaving?
Don: I'll say Paige and Katie.
Chico: I'm going to go with Lacey and Paige.
Gordon: I'll say Lacey and...Katelyn, in another shocker.
Chico: I fully expect Paige to stick around.
Gordon: Paige was terrible, which means the audience will use the sympathy vote
to save her.
Jason: You think Paige is this year's Sanjaya?
Gordon: Sanjayette. All the men were good, and Michael, in the same genre, sang
Todrick into the floor.
Jason: Michael was THE MAN last night.
Chico: Yep
Gordon: The only one not too good - Andrew, who may have used up his last life.
Chico: Game over.
Jason: Good bye.
Don: Sayonara.
Gordon: As for the ladies, did Lacey Brown get enough of a fan base with her
song selections?
Jason: No.
Chico: Sorry, but that song bores me to tears when Brandi Carlisle sings it.
Gordon: What about Paige? Will she get enough sympathy votes to stick around?
Chico: Depends on whether or not Lilly can be counted on to deliver the R&B
vote. I mean, if she falls under that heading, you can easily say, yeah, she
sang Paige into the ground. What of it?
Gordon: Or Siobhan
Chico: Or Siobhan. But you see where I'm going.
Gordon: Was Katelyn so forgettable that she's going in a shocker?
Chico: Could be.
Don: It's possible.
Jason: I think the Top 12 is wide open. No more games now. But I know who the
favorites are going in. Crystal Bowersox for the women and Michael Lynche for
the men.
Chico: I'll add on Siobhan Magnus and Lee Dewyze.
Jason: Heck no on both. Lee Dewyze is AWFUL. His voice is like nails on a
chalkboard.
Chico: Here we go... 16 singers. 12 seats. Someone's going to the big stage and
someone's going home.
Gordon: This time around, you WANT to be sitting on a seat on the Center Stage.
Chico: No, I'm not ready Seacrest. I have to tie my shoes.... Okay, I'm ready.
From Television City in Hollywood... it's results time! Tonight, we'll have a
duet from last year with Matt Giraud and Scott MacIntyre. But first... the
return of Mankini. Ew.
Don: Yuck.
Gordon: And we have bikini boy with Randy Jackson's face superimposed on it.
Don: My eyes hurt.
Chico: I. Feel. Dirty. I need a group sing.
Gordon: And....a live performance?
Chico: Yep. The song, Michael Buble's "Haven't Met You Yet".
Jason: Ah.
Gordon: It sounds live this time...um...semi-live.
Chico: I'm guessing it's a combination of live and backing track.
Jason: Nope.
Gordon: Never mind, Lip sucked.
Chico: Started live, I'm guessing. Then it just... progressed.
Gordon: Or degressed.
Chico: Point, G.
Gordon: Next week: Themes of the Rolling Stones
Chico: Nice. Ladies are up.
Gordon: We start with...Didi.
Chico: Didi Benami is... IN!
Gordon: Yay!
Jason: Not a surprise.
Chico: Siobhan is next. I'll be surprised if she doesn't make it
Don: Same here.
Gordon: I bet she's in.
Chico: Siobhan Magnus is... IN!
Jason: Duh.
Gordon: We bring down Paige Miles AND Katelyn Epperly.
Chico: Oooh...
Jason: Oooooh indeed
Chico: One of them is going on. The other is going home. Paige... is IN!
Gordon: Yay!
Chico: Gordon's on the board.
Gordon: And there's the shocked vote point for me.
Chico: I'm not... really that surprised.
Gordon: Not at all.
Chico: She's just... there.
Gordon: And she performs this infinitely worse than yesterday.
Chico: With a voice of dejected solitude.
Jason: I see why she went home.
Gordon: She picked a terrible follow-up song.
Don: My ears hurt.
Chico: No, it didn't do anything for me, dude.
Gordon: Annnd...we see tears.
Chico: Men up next. Tim, Todrick, Lee, and Casey go down. I'm guessing only ONE
of them go home.
Gordon: I agree
Chico: Tim Urban made the most of a return trip...Todrick Hall kept flipping
scripts all over the place...Lee Dewyze and Casey James have both been
consistent.
Gordon: Casey is...safe.
Jason: Duh.
Gordon: Not a surprise there
Chico: And so is TIM!
Gordon: Also not a surprise
Chico: Down to Todrick and Lee. Going into the top 12... LEE
Gordon: And Todrick is out.
Chico: Say bye to Todrick.
Jason: I can understand why he left. It was too little, way too late.
Chico: Yep.
Gordon: He also ran into the steamroller that was Michael Lynche.
Don: Indeed.
Chico: Yep. It lacks passion and believability.
Gordon: It was a bad song choice. If he stayed in R&B, I think he gets in.
Chico: Agreed, if he didn't throw arrangements to the wind like that. Again,
simple song sung simply.
Gordon: I liked that he was being creative. I think he was being creative the
wrong way.
Chico: Yeah, but there's being creative, and then there's... yeah, that.
Jason: He was so out of the box, he wasn't even in.
Chico: He was the space surrounding the box.
Gordon: Back to Idol's Top 12. Who's up for an interlude?
Chico: Me! It's dueling pianos courtesy of Matt Giraud and Scott MacIntyre. The
song: "Tell Her About It".
Jason: And its fun.
Chico: Very much so. I love dueling pianos.
Gordon: Scott sounds a lot better than when he was on the show. Matt...still
sounds rocky.
Don: I liked that one.
Jason: Me too.
Gordon: Back to Idol we go.
Chico: First up, back to the ladies.
Gordon: Let's bring the girls back.
Chico: Crystal had raw talent... and still does. I mean.. some on..
Gordon: Crystal is ouuuuusafe.
Jason: Of course.
Gordon: Next up is Michael Lynche. He's safe of course.
Chico: Of course, Big Mike is IN.
Jason: Well duh.
Chico: Just waiting for Ryan to say it is all.
Jason: And he does.
Chico: Lacey Brown is next. She.... I don't think she knows who she is. But
she's IN. There's your shocker. But first, Aaron Kelly is up. Aaron is IN...
Gordon: Sure is.
Chico: That leaves Alex and Andrew...
Gordon: We have a banana vs. the YouTuber and pre-season favorite.
Chico: I vote banana.
Gordon: Chico would be...wrong. Andrew is safe, and Alex Lambert is sent
packing.
Chico: ... and the banana gets peeled!
Gordon: YouTube Nation is strong.
Chico: That's youtube.com/gsnnvideowall to all of y'all.
Jason: I think that America got it wrong.
Chico: But "Trouble" is a little flat and emotionless tonight.
Gordon: That's true. Though America may have gotten it right based on that
performance.
Chico: Yep
Gordon: Too many songwriters in a crowded genre does Alex in, I'm afraid.
Chico: There you go. Now it's down to Katie Stevens & Lilly Scott.
Jason: Katie goes home.
Gordon: Could there be another upset brewing?
Chico: Gordon, who gets stool #12?
Gordon: The last seat SHOULD go to Lilly...but...you wouldn't put someone who's
been so strong down there at the end unless there was an upset brewing.
Jason: Correct.
Gordon: Cause it seems sort of anti-climactic this way if we all think Lilly is
advancing.
Chico: You would think that.
Gordon: And as I've said, too many singer-songwriters. I'm going to say Katie
gets the last seat and Lilly gets booted.
Chico: But what if the surprise was that there's no surprise?
Jason: Top 13?
Gordon: I don't think so. You're not going to have a Top 13 and make it uneven
number of men and women.
Chico: Especially not after last year.
Chico: The final seat goes to...KATIE!
Jason: Upset!
Chico: Another stunner!
Don: Wow.
Chico: In a night already chock full of them.
Gordon: Not really.
Jason: Why?
Gordon: Too many singer-songwriters. You had 8 singers. 5 were
singer-songwriters. You are not going to have 5 singer-songwriters make the Top
6. I only guessed the wrong singer-songwriter.
Chico: Not after that. But did you see Lilly in that group in danger?
Gordon: I was concerned about her well-being.
Chico: So once again, your eliminated: Katelyn Epperly, Lilly Scott, Todrick
Hall, and Alex Lambert. This should make for an interesting matchup. That means
that the top 12 are...
Michael Lynche
Andrew Garcia
Lee Dewyze
Casey James
Tim Urban
Aaron Kelly
Crystal Bowersox
Lacey Brown
Paige Miles
Katie Stevens
Siobhan Magnus
Didi Benami
Chico: Next week. Bigger stage... Bigger stakes. This time, it counts. Gordon
has the belt from last year... so I gotta take it from him!
Gordon: Actually, Grandma Pepper has it.
Chico: So I'm not that gung ho anymore :-) But I'd still like the belt again.
Jason: I want that belt.
Chico: We're doing the Rolling Stones next week. We'll see you then. Thanks to
the panel... For now, remember to support local music :-)
