Last night, after a grueling Hollywood Round, the
steps to build the Final 24 were put into motion. Who did enough? Who barely
squeezed by? And who is going home? With the stakes this high and the
competition this rich in talent, something has to give.
As a reminder, Didi Benami and Katelyn Epperly
are the only women through to the public vote. The men are sending Lee Dewyze,
Todrick Hall, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, and Big Mike Lynche.
Janell Wheeler is next. She was left with the
feeling that she had something to prove in Hollywood, and she proved it, though
she stumbled TWICE during the week. Did that come back to bit her? Nope. She's
IN!
What about Tyler Grady? He got a sweep in Boston.
"Home" was not on his list of things he's planned to do. He'd like to stick
around a little while longer... He'll get his wish. He's IN!
Lacey Brown is making the longest walk for the
second time in her life, having lost the first to Megan Joy in a sudden-death
sing-off. Will fortune smile upon her this year? It's a good day for her. She's
IN! Joining her: Ashley Rodriguez, Alex Lambert, and Joe Muņoz.
Will Crystal Bowersox join her? Her voice has
gotten her through this week, and she's hoping to be a nice little pick-me-up.
She's got her son's photo, a guitar, and a new disfiguring mark. The decision
was unanimous... she's IN!
The holding room is thinning out. Next is Katie
Stevens, whose grandmother has Alzheimers. Her talent shone in Hollywood Week.
And she's also IN. Same could not be said for the next five...
Nine spots remaining. Will one of them go to
Angela Martin? This is her third time auditioning. She's had highs and lows both
on stage and off. Year 1 had a death in the family and her daughter being taken
to Shriners. Year 2 had her in jail. Will she be third time lucky? No she did
not.
Denver's Lilly Scott blew the judges away with
her jazz stylings. Will she get a chance to blow America away after a bad
rehearsal? She knows who she is. We know she's IN. More good news coming for
Paige Miles, Siobhan Magnus, Michelle Delamor, Jermaine Sellers, and John Park.
Two girls left: Haeley Vaughn and Tori Kelly. Two
girls. One slot. At times, Haeley can be great, but at other times, she can be
annoying. She's super talented. Same can be said for Tori. Flashes of
brilliance. Strength to strength. It's a thick field... The final spot for the
girls goes to... HAELEY.
Just two guys remain: Andrew Garcia and Thaddeus
Johnson. Thaddeus' strengths have been galvanized by the presence of a very
proud mother. Andrew's trying to provide for his own family. Thaddeus' last
performance started with a little misstep. Thaddeus is first. It was a close
call for him... unfortunately, it's all for naught. And he leaves the room in
tears, really having done nothing wrong.
Which just leaves the panel to tell Andrew Garcia
that he's IN, giving us this lineup for next week.
