Lowe Riders vs. Howlin' Howells
September 18

Last night, the GUTS continued to spill as the Eichen-Splat moved one inch closer to claiming the ultimate piece of Aggro-Crag by upsetting Rojo Grande. Tonight, two more families enter the Extreme Arena...

LOWE RIDERS
(Chris, Hudson, Randy, Dakota)
HOWLIN' HOWELLS
(Annie, Morgan, Marty, Alex)

First thing's first...

Event 1: FREE RUN CITY

Two minutes through an concrete jungle of I-beams, hippety-hops, water towers, and aerial bridges with bolted-in barrels. From point A to point B as fast as humanly possible.

Lowes won the coin toss, so they'll go first. Dakota takes the Street Hop, Randy goes on the Spinning Sky Bridge, Chris has the Water Tower, and Hudson will anchor at the Construction Site. One of the keys to the Street Hop is momentum, and Dakota uses it full force. Chris is inching on the water tower, and thus loses the team's advantage. Final time... the slowest in the series... 1:35, which includes a 2-second penalty for Dakota running up to the first tower in the Street Hop, for 25 points.

In the Gut Check, we learn that Dakota's a cheerleader, Hudson's a skateboarder, and mom and dad Chris & Randy are water-skiers. Their support comes from each other and their desire to be competitive in everything they do.

Marty hops, Morgan takes to the bridge, Annie goes to the zero G water tower, and Alex shuts it down at the construction site. Marty makes short work of the street, but Morgan loses her footing in the Sky Bridge. Annie completely loses it on the water tower, giving the team the slowest time in the course... 1:41 for 19 points. Lowe Riders lead, 25-19.

Now to Gut Check the Howells. Son Alex is a quarterback, stepdaughter Morgan is a competitive dancer and cheerer, sister-in-law Annie is a swimmer, and mom Marty thinks of sports as an extension of life in general. Secret weapon... Alex.

Event 2: VERT BALL

It's our favorite bloodsport at GSNN, and it's going airborne. We're talking dodgeball off the aerial bridges. Standard dodgeball rules apply. Grab the other team's balls or hit the other team to score 10 points.

Playing for the Lowe Riders, it's Dakota & Handsome Randy. Playing for the Howlin' Howells... Marty & Morgan. Lowes connect after 19 seconds. Finally. Howells get a hit off the head of Randy.  This comes down to the wire... but the Howells come away with it to catch up, 3-1. That puts the score at 49-35, giving the green team a 14 point advantage going into...

Final Event: AGGROCRAG

Ancient yet modern. Terrifying yet strangely inviting. From the face of the beast right up the gut (no pun intended), it's a race to the summit of the legendary monster known as the AggroCrag. From base camp, you're separated from the Ice Portal by skeletal stalagmites, slippery slopes, and various things being blown at them. Then it's to the face of the mountain, where you and you alone must steel your nerves against 22 feet of grips in a rush to Crystal Peak, where the final actuator awaits. Winner stays... Loser pays...

Going up against his tyrannical tor is Chris & Hudson for the Lowes and Alex & Anne for the Howells. The Howells have a 14 point lead, which translates to a 1.4 second head-start, meaning we're basically looking at a tie situation. Don't tell that to the Howells, who've all but opened up a lead heading to the Vertical Freeze. They fall, though, allowing the Lowes to catch up... but who'll make it to the top first? It's the Howlin' Howells! Yes, mom.. you won! Come on down and claim your crag crystal.

So Pele sleeps for another night until tomorrow, when the Dionne Dash & the Gahres G-Dogs go head to head, hand to hand, and gut to gut. Until then no ifs, ands, or buts... my family's got GUTS!
