Welcome to the Jungle
July 20 |
Celebrating the 45th
anniversary of man stepping foot on the moon, Alton
Brown’s International House of Sabotageᵀᴹ welcomes
Jessica, Matt, Ryan and Tom for this week’s
out-of-this-world episode, and they all get their
$25,000 cash money.
Blasting off on the first dish, it’s Satay with Peanut
Sauce. For the sabotages, Tom (the dancing martial arts
cook) pays $5,100 to make a peanut butter swap, giving
Ryan PB&J sandwiches, Matt (who works for Ringling
Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus) unshelled peanuts and
Jessica M&M’s peanut candies. Matt gets an extra
disadvantage thanks to Ryan’s $3,200 purchase of some
palm fronds to use as skewers, and then gets revenge on
Tom by making him use a jungle torch as his only heat
source for $3,500. With the cooking done, Jet Tila comes
out of isolation and says that Ryan’s version of this
Asian dish was sadly lacking, and returns $22,800 to the
First National Savings and Loan of Briefcase.
Jessica still has her full $25,000 while Matt has
$21,500 and Tom is a mere C-note short of $20,000. Next
dish on the menu: Beef Stroganoff. Matt pays $2,500 to
make Tom replace his sour cream with sour candies and
ice cream, while Tom forks over $1,800 to make Matt cook
from a “Russian nesting doll” of pots for ten minutes at
a time. And Mr. Tila is again released from the hidden
soundproof booth, deciding Jessica’s version had too
much cognac, and undercooked noodles, returning all
$25,000 in the process.
As the last stage of our food fight awaits, Matt has
$19,000 and Tom is close behind with $18,100. But can
they do fondue? We’re about to find out, however Tom
forgets wine and garlic, but he’ll have to harvest his
ingredients from a nacho cheese pot thanks to Matt’s
$5,000 purchase, meaning he’ll have $14,000 at stake to
Tom’s $18,100. Jet Tila’s pick to win is Tom, in spite
of an overpowering cherry brandy taste compared to the
slightly messy from Matt.
