Big Trouble in Little
Chinese Chicken Salad
July 13 |
Here we are once again
visiting Alton Brown’s International House of Sabotageᵀᴹ
and there are Francisco, Tiffany, Frank and Bryan all
getting that $25,000 cash stipend. Now, let’s let the
real fun begin, and I’m not talking about Germany’s
one-nil win over Argentina after extra time in the World
Cup Final, either.
Let’s start with some Chinese chicken salad, gang. Bryan
pays $12,200 to make the others use the infamous chain
of tools on a Great Wall. Francisco makes Frank cook on
conical strainers (Chinese caps) for $9,100 while
Tiffany pays $10,000 to have Francisco fetch all his
ingredients from wooden steamers. Mid-round, Frank pays
$4,000 to place Francisco in the old Chinese finger trap
for the rest of the round. Antonia Lofaso’s judging
tonight, and tells Tiffany to return her $15,000.
Round Two begins with Frank having a stash of $21,000,
Francisco hanging onto $13,900 and Bryan holds down the
third place spot with a bankroll of $12,800. Let’s make
club sandwiches, but can you cook with golf clubs?
Francisco pays $6,600 to make Bryan do so, and then adds
insult to injury by making him wear white gloves and
cannot touch food while wearing them for $4,000, and is
fined $100 for soiling those gloves later in this round.
Then in middle of the round, Francisco learns that
payback is you-know-what as Frank swaps out his bread
for a hollowed-out loaf of plain white bread (or plain
old bread crust) for $1,500. Antonia has returned, and
cuts Francisco and his $4,000.
As we head into the last dish of the evening, Frank
leads with $19,500 and Bryan trails with $12,700. And in
the words of Homer Simpson, the last dish is “Mmmmmmmm,
donuts.” Bryan overpays to the tune of $12,000 to make
Frank get his ingredients back by tossing donut holes
into coffee cups, but Frank sabotages Bryan out of donut
pans to mix and cook in for $800. And with a large gap
of moolah - $17,700 for Frank and only seven hundred
simoleons for Bryan - separating them, Antonia’s final
decision is that the winner is Frank.
Next week, more shenanigans and cooking.
