Group Two - June 22-23

Last time it was Daryl and Ashlea who moved on. who's next?

Dave Moffat (formerly of the Moffats) and from Victoria BC. He auditioned in Winnipeg when he was in town, after he was egged on by his friends. He mentions the band he was in with his brothers. but he's now on his own! He sings "My dreams", and definitely with a lot of passion.

Jake: I got to be honest, I was underwhelmed.
Farley: So was I. You should have stepped up.

Alinka Chambers is from my favourite place to dive, and a 40 minute drive from my house, Barrie ON. At the top 100 she said she was VERY nervous. She wants Canada to be her stage. Her choice is a Canadian classic - "Black Velvet". And wow, does she ever put some passion in it. Her singing is great too!

Sass: That was so radically out of tune.
Zack: That was incredibly contrived and awful.

Apparently this is why I'm not a judge.

David Mongar from Duncan BC (of David and Sheena) wants to do this. His song choice is "Only the Good Die Young". He sings it quite well, all things considered.

Jake: I thought it was a bit rushed. you didn't take advantage of the melody.
Sass: You have a fabulous vitality about your performance.

Casey LeBlanc is from Nackawic, NB. She says her style reflects herself. (I would certainly hope so!). She also likes that she's different. She sings a R&B song that I don't recognize, and her singing isn't half bad.

Zack: I'd really like to give you a second go. I think you could kick it.
Farley: There was a bit of passion missing for me in the beginning. I found it was a bit of a challenge for you.

Josh Palmer is from Saskatoon, SK. Coming to the top 100 in Toronto was very nerve wracking for him. He's also very happy to have had Debra as his coach. Josh picks another song that's not well known and frankly like most others he isn't singing very well.

Jake: You're the real artist, the real deal.
Zack: I actually really liked that.

Julie Tellier is from St-Bruno-de-Montarville QC. She loves the idea of being able to perform for everyone. He song choice is once again not stored away in my mind somewhere (and here I was thinking that I knew everything). But she definitely proves that she knows what she's doing.

Farley: You may quite be the diamond in tonight's rough.
Sass: It was radically out of tune.

Vince Benenanti is from Toronto and likes dressing up so that he can sell his performance. "What a Wonderful World" is his pick. He sings it with tons of conviction.

Jake: It felt very safe. You could shoot a little higher.
Farley: You've got to step up to the plate.

Emily Vinette is from Ottawa ON and his the last performance. She's chosen "Don't cry out loud" because it got her this far. She seems flat off the start, and she does a decent job through the rest of the song.

Zack: The notes in between the "star search moments" were adequate.
Sass: By far the best singer of the evening.

RESULTS

Oh look it's Jon Dore! And he took the top 8 to Canada's Wonderland. He brought back oversize glasses for Jake, caramel corn for Farley, a lollipop for Sass. And for Zack (he hides his head in his hands) there's a sweet teddy bear. We see our eight on bumper cars, the Fly, Top Gun (C-Note: Top Gun owns...), and interacting with Dora the Explorer.

Our results are in, and advancing to the top 3 tonight are. Emily, Vince and Casey.

And moving onto the top 10... are... Emily and Casey.

Group 3 next!
