If you could answer these and a bunch of other questions, maybe you've
got what it takes to win....
THE AMERICAN BIBLE CHALLENGE
Welcome to the first of 2 semifinal matches. Minnie's Food Pantry,
Judson's Legacy and the Power Team have all known the bible
victoriously, but the stakes get a little higher and salvation had never
been this good. Whoever wins this one will advance to the final show.
Each team had won $20,000 for their charities and more charity money is
about to be dished out. So with that....
LET THE SEMIFINALS COMMENCE!
Minnie's Food Pantry
Plano, TX
Charity: Minnie’s Food Pantry, a charity that
provides healthy food for families in need
Team Members: Lanett Patt (stay-at-home mom); Cheryl
Jackson (President, Minnie’s Food Pantry); Lynette
Shofner (small-business owner). Sisters Cheryl and
Lynette are pastor’s kids, and Minnie’s Food Pantry,
which provides healthy food for families in need, is
named after their mother. Sister-in-law Lanett works
with Lynette on Sisters of Savings (SOS), a
subscription coupon list that enables people to save
and donate their extra food. |
Judson's Legacy
Orange County, CA
Charity: Hunter’s Hope, an organization that, in
partnership with Judson's Legacy, raises awareness
and funds research for Krabbe Disease, an illness
that Cristina and Drake's firstborn son battled
Team Members: Drake Levasheff (college
administrator); Christina Levasheff (author); Dean
Bobar (pastoral assistant). This highly spirited
team consists of married couple Drake and Christina
and their dear friend Dean who they met during a
very life changing time. They have been rock solid
friends ever since, and share a very unique and
special bond. |
The Power Team
Dallas
Charity: The Power Team, a group that spreads the
word of God through strength and martial arts skills
Team Members: Jamie Morrison (Power Team speaker);
Dallas Morrison (stay-at-home mom); Matt Dopson
(Power Team speaker). Jamie, formerly a troubled kid
who turned to God, and Matt, who never drank and
saved himself for marriage, work with the Power
Team. Jamie’s wife, Dallas, is the former road
manager for the Power Team, but now stays home to
raise the kids. |
First, it's....
GET ALL YOUR BURIALS AT LAZ-R-US
This one is all about Lazarus' death. 10 points up for grabs. Let's do
it.
1. When Lazarus died, Jesus went to visit the next of kin. Who were
they- Peter & Andrew, Aquila & Priscilla, Mary & Martha or Kim & Khloe?
The legacy think it's Mary & Martha and it's Marvelously right!
2. One of the shortest verses in The New Testament is found in the story
of Lazarus. What is it- Jesus wept, Lazarus rose, people gasped or just
do it?
The pantry ring in with Jesus wept and tears of joy for the team. 10
points. Lastly....
3. What command did Jesus say that caused Lazarus to rise from the dead-
"Lazarus, are you in there?, "Lazarus, come out!", "Lazarus, where are
you?" or "Lazarus, wake up sleepy head!"?
The pantry say come out Lazarus, and they come into the lead. So far,
the pantry has 20, the legacy has 10 and the power team yet to score.
The choir will sing about it and afterwards we head into.....
BIBLICAL GREETING CARDS

The man from Genesis 45 thought it was Joseph according to the pantry,
but it got them in the hole. The legacy fire away with Jacob and it's

your fault. Satan's messing with your life."
The team get on the board with Job. Good job for them. Our last card....
4. "YOUR Majesty's BIRTHDAY deserves to be Great! So here's what you
ordered...a head on a plate!"
Ew. But the legacy ring in with Herod and they close it out with 85, the
team 25 and The pantry yet to get out of the hole. It takes 2 to make a
thing go right, and they're about to with this next test....
LOVE LINES
Are they Song of Songs or Just Wrong? Let's find out.

The pantry get out of the hole with Song of Songs. Good for them. The
Legacy are next and they have this....

Song of Songs is what they wanted and that's right. Moving on to....
THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF THE O.T.
The pantry go first again and this query:
1. After a serendipitous rendezvous w/ a servant by the drinking well,
this woman eventually agreed to marry her husband sight unseen. Who was
she?
They think its Esther, but it's actually Rebekah. No points for them.
The legacy have this....
2. Who wooed her future husband by sleeping at his feet?
Good thing they stay awake, because it was Ruth and it's correct. The
team end with this.....
3. What housewife was reunited w/ her prophet-husband despite her
misbehavior during their marriage?
Rahab was a good guess, but not good enough to get 50. Gomer, as in
Gomer Pyle was the answer. Shazam! 4 rounds over and the scores are: The
Legacy with 185, the team with 75, and the pantry with 45, but it's
still anyone's challenge as we head into the big solo thing called....
THE CHOSEN THREE
The legacy go first. They want to know......
Which three of these are among the Seven Churches of Revelation
mentioned in Chapters 2-3- Jerusalem, Pergamum, Thyatira, Antioch,
Smyrna or Paphos?
They answer with Peregamum, Thystria and Smyrna and they're
all....right. The pantry are next. They have this.....
Lanett: Which three of these New Testament books have the most chapters-
Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Revelation or Acts?
They get Matthew & John, but Acts....isn't it. You know the first 4
books of the New Testament. They are Matthew, Mark, John....& Luke which
would've gave them 100 points. Time for the team to dig deep. Here's the
question.....
Which three of these ingredients for bread are mentioned in Ezekiel 4:9-
spelt, millet, oats, lentils, quinoa or rye?
They get lentills, but rye and oats....aren't it. Looks like they
should've stuck to the biblical Food Network. Spelt & millet are what
they would've had. Looks like the power is out for the power team, but
when you get a bronze medal finish, it's a total of $22,500.
We will now determine the first of 2 spots in the finale. To do that, we
must have a bible study showdown using this subject....
THE TEMPLE
So they must study where the temple guards must gain access to the
championship match for one team. In they go while the choir sings with
the notable absence of Jon Holland and the Vectormen.
Let the showdown begin. The pantry put on their running shoes and
get....2. Which means the legacy can breathe easy for another 20K if
they get 3 right. And boy, they used brooms to sweep them off into the
finals. The legacy continue their championship run bringing them to 40K,
while the pantry collect $25,000 in the season.
Next week, Georgia's Grace Girls, The Boys Next Door and the Food
Fighters will all play towards a goal at $100,000. I'm Pierre Kelly
